Will Pop Century accomodate 5?

:) Thanks! :)
No cabins at the wilderness ---- Nothing at the Music ...

Either 2 rooms at the POP - or the POR trundle bed - i wonder what the weight limit is on there? Room is probably the same size as the POP

The rooms at the Pop are 260 feet. The ones at POR are 314.

Having said that, we stayed at POR in October. Any my 9yr old niece thought the rooms seemed smaller than the ones at the All Stars, which are also 260 feet.

I would go with whichever resort appeals to you more. Pop and POR are vastly different. Do you want in your face fun or a very laid back resort?

Both are appealing to me, the POP would be great for my 6yo --- the Riverside seems nice, never been there before.

I'm just concerned squeezing in the POP .. honest truth - my 6yo sleeps with us anyways so she'll be in the one double with us - other double and floor for my son and his friend ;) hehe

Other than that - the trundle will work too...

My main thing is making it feel Disney for her - with regards to Christmas decorations.. I want it to be appealing for her.

:)
:hippie:

Unfortunately, they won't let you squeeze five in a Pop Century room. You'll have to get two. If you can't afford the second room, you will have to tell your son's friend that he can't go. I'm sure that's going to be fun. I surely wouldn't ask his mom to pay for the second room or the majority of the second room unless he invited himself. We usually pay for any kids we invite, except for their spending money which they provide themselves.

How about checking the DVC boards to see if anyone has points to rent for a villa. You would need a two bedroom at most - I know a few one bedrooms can accomodate 5. That may be an option that would save you a lot over the regular price and would give you plenty of room plus a kitchen and washer/dryer.

yes, i thought that - but at 10.00 per point over Christmas, might end up costing over $2500.00
I'm just assuming...

It honestly sounds like your only option will be POR since the cost of two rooms is prohibitive for you and the other options aren't available. It's a very nice resort, just prepare everyone for the close quarters and set up rules before you go regarding things like bedtime, and if you let the boys go out alone, a curfew. Also, if you are asking your guest to sleep on the floor please let him know beforehand so that his parents can send an airmattress for him or something (although, I must say, it would probably be the nicer thing as a host for your son to bring an airmattress and give the bed to his guest). I'd still give the family suites or cabins another try for availabily before I booked though and since you are a group of six it's really safer to let go of the idea of POP. Have fun!

I'm going to try and family suites and cabins one last time today - We are a family of 5. My son's guest is 17 and I've already told his Mom what our accommodations would be, since he wants to come and I've already booked the POP. I'm more than likely going to move to the POR and they will take turns on the trundle bed.

Sorry, I knew you were a family of 5 but I mistyped.:goodvibes I'm really shocked that they let you book 5 people into a room at Pop. Good luck getting a family suite or the cabins. You will definitely be more comfortable in one of those rooms.

It's okay :) hehe
Nope, they didn't allow us - we have a family of 4 when I booked - now that the friend is coming I have to make a move, but was researching my options before I changed

You won't get guaranteed connecting rooms if there are two adults in the party. If you have two adults, you will need to register an adult in each room. Disney will not assume that the two adults will always share a room - they will assume that the adults can split up if needed, so it won't trigger a guarantee for connecting rooms. You can request connecting rooms, and they'll do whatever they can to meet the request, but there won't be a guarantee unless there's only one adult with four minor children - not for two adults with three minors.

The trundle bed at POR is a good size for small kids, but likely not for 17 year old boys.

I would go with POR because it is cheaper and you won't be in our room much.

Another option may be the Swan or Dolphin. I think one of them (maybe both) allows you to get a roll away bed, but I am not sure of the cost.

Here is some info on hotels near Disney and some let you have 5 or 6 people:

But for staying on property, POR will be much nicer. The teens could go back to the room whenever they want using the Disney transportation. That is worth a lot. My teenage DD and her older cousin would go out and come back whenever they wanted and we would just go off by ourselves with no worries about how to get places. So to us, the Disney buses are worth a lot. Just something to think about. Good Luck.

OH......you may want to jump on that room at POR and book it asap, I think the rooms for 5 go fast usually.

Agreed. The trundle is far too small for the average 17-year-old boy. It'll be fine for the 6-year-old, but I think your best bet for the teens is to bring an air mattress and have the older boys take turns sleeping on that.

Thanks for the ideas...

I was thinking of bringing an air mattress just in case the trundle was no good - POR bigger than POP right - i'll be able to fit it in the room?

I think there is more to do at the POR for the boys at 17yo than the POP.

The thing holding me back is i'd want to make sure the place is decorated for my daughter and all.. I know the Pop would have a tree, etc. I'm sure POR has too right?

We've never been down for the holidays - so i want this experience to be a great one for my daughter.

Only thing I dont like about the Swan/Dolphin is the resort fee plus parking.. Then I don't get to park free at the parks either. That's a large expense as well.

POR might be the way to go - :)

I would think all of the resorts would be decorated for Christmas. Also, there is a boat from PO to take you to DTD and there are decorations there.

The other thing that is nice (if the weather is warm enough for swimming) is you can go to the pool at POR or POFQ.

TY Westjones..

Just called Dolphin - they have availability at 5x $122.50 plus 2x $275.00 but the resort fees are $10.00 per night plus $9.00 per night parking ..

Costs around 130.00 plus tax --- might be more feasible at the POR with an air mattress instead of that trundle bed.

We are driving to WDW, unsure If I mentioned that, so throwing the mattress in the car is no big deal.

Those fees are high! That is too bad. Those resorts are VERY nice, and being able to walk to Epcot and The Studios is so nice. Also the decorations at the Boardwalk and Beach Club at Christmas are beautiful. When we stayed at Boardwalk one Christmas they had groups singing Carols on their lawn every night.

To be honest, I just love that area and we tend to stay at Beach Club or Boardwalk whenever we go (although we are trying out Bay Lake Towers on our next trip).

But price wise, it does sound like Port Orleans would be better.

The only way the OP is going to get a DVC villa is if a member has one that they cannot use at the last minute. There are multiple wait lists for members right now just hoping someone cancels at the last minute and little or no vacancy.

The OP just needs to book something as soon as possible, whether on site or off if she is going to bring along her son's friend.

OP, we have seen POR at Christmastime, and it is decorated beautifully. I think between the resort ant the parks, your DD will love all the Christmas decorations.

POR is a really nice resort- so pretty, along the river. The main pool area is awesome, and the bus service is good- better than Pop, IMO. You will like it there!!
