Not to sound like a huge idiot, but what is OP? Is it original poster? That's the only thing that I could think of! I'm fairly new, so don't be too harsh! lol

Excellent post - I for one appreciate the information regarding large tour groups etc.. for my future holiday planning. Just to add fuel to the fire - I was a chaperone for my oldest sons first trip overseas with his 5th grade class (to France) - it goes without saying that it would have been unthinkable to start chanting "USA, USA, USA" at the Louvre or Versailles. The French would never tolerate that sort of rudeness in public. Regardless of where you travelor where you are from, people need to behave themselveskeishashadow said:Despite co-existing in an imperfect world, we all hope to have a magical experience @ WDW. After expending tons of time, energy & money planning for our visits, it's sometimes hard to reach our inflated expectations.
That said, I'm sure we all have our pet peeves pertaining to our fellow travelers. Mine are:
1. Folks who use strollers as "cowcatchers", especially @ rope drops, have seen people knocked over carelessly, and
2. Very loosely supervised groups of youngsters running wild without any apparent adult supervision, i.e. cheerleaders & twirlers. Yes, my kids go on group outings too, just hope the chaperones are more vigilant for everyone's sake.
Am I profiling, perhaps, but not by race, group/conduct. My generalizatons are based on dangerous behavior I've witnessed, both to the individuals & others around them. Of course, all strollers are not weapons, nor are all youth groups out of control. But I've experienced enough to want to avoid them in the future. Have some control re the youth groups (avoid the AS Resorts during scheduled events). Just have to be wary around the strollers, we've started to treat them as moving vehicles.
Bottom line, do your research...in the summer it's hot & crowded (as are the holidays); and few are on their best behavior - plan accordingly.

I had a thread deleted on the Theme Park board because I posted what I did after hearing them chant throughout the BTMRR. At the end of the ride, when they were quiet for a second, I shouted, "Argentina!" They got quieter and gave me the stink eye. Argentina recently beat Brazil in a World Cup qualifying match.![]()

It never takes too long before an International Human Rights lawyer wannabe arrives ready to speak on their behalf, as if they need defending from the aggressive white male. Do these wannabees think if they were even slightly offended by what the OP said, this means every person from Brazil would also be?

It was our 11th trip to WDW, though I think it will be our last for a very long time. In the past we always went during the fall, but this year I thought a summer trip might be nice. Maybe it was the 3 hispanic boys smoking in the boat ahead of us on splash mountain, or the 10 bzillion Brazillions singing, chanting like at a soccur match in many of the lines. or the Brazillions cutting in line in the fast past lines to catch up with their group members, or the 90 minute wait at midnight for space mountain, or the fact that the food quality at 2 of our favorite restaurants (San Angels and 50's PT) has dropped considerably. I just don't know. What I do know is that July is not the time to go the WDW.
dis ms. said:Wow. I think that's kind of harsh. I don't think that newsiegirl was out of line or rude. She was just voicing an opinion. That doesn't make her a wannabe human rights lawyer. Also, everyone is focusing on the comment about Brazilians in the OP's post. I didn't take issue with that because she was simply describing a group of people here visiting from another country. There's nothing wrong with that, IMHO. I wouldn't hesitate to say "this tour group from Brazil" or "Brazilian tour group".

What does their being hispanic have to do with anything? To me, it has no relevance to the OP's story. Their behavior was improper, regardless of their ethnicity. If the boys had been Caucasian, would the OP have said "3 caucasian boys?"
newsiegirl said:WOW! I don't even know what to say anymore! If you go back and look at my posts, I don't think you will find me accusing anybody of being anything! Once again, I just posted my opinion, and now I'm being accused of everything! It sure is a nice welcome to the disboards! "These people are visitors in OUR country!" My gosh! And I guess your two cents means the whole world to the op! All I have to say is "thank you dis ms.!" It's nice to read a well written post on the obvious underdog opinion!
KevinM said:I'm starting to think that there are no "slow" times to go anymore. Dec. 03 was great, Dec. 04 was pretty crowded, and Feb. 05 (another "slow" period) was pretty darn packed. We're going the week after Thanksgiving this year and I'm starting to worry about crowds. We're taking first timers with us this year and I promised low crowds. After reading some of the threads regarding that week, I'm finding that it may be very busy, as opposed to what numerous publications report about that week.
