Will my new AP make us lose our WL room?

Just got APs in August, but before we even dreamed of having APs we had booked a tix/room package to WL for a holiday trip in December. MDE shows we still have 4 day park tickets for that package, as well as our new APs. I'll have to call and cancel the tickets, since we don't need them with the APs, but will they also cancel our room? Really hoping that's not the case! But you never know with Disney!:confused3

Just call and explain. Tell them you made this reservation before deciding to buy an AP and would like to take the tickets off. They can give you a 'Basic Package', which is just the room with the option of adding dining and/or park tickets later. If you've had park tickets and take them off, your package becomes a basic package. They will refund the price of the tickets. We did this with no trouble for our summer trip. I had booked a package (room and park tickets) before we became passholders. We were moved to the Basic Package, and since I had paid off the balance on our vacation package, I was given a refund within 2-3 days.

The only problem you could encounter is if you had purchased the package as part of a discount. If this is the case, you will want to just save the tickets. You can apply the cost of the tickets to an AP renewal (or so I'm told. I haven't done it yet myself).

First hand experience! Thank you! Ironically enough, this is the first time we've ever paid rack rate! :rotfl2:So that part, at least, won't be a problem! Hopefully your scenario will work for us as well, if not I'll do like @Hopefully said and use the tickets later. Or, like you said, use them towards AP renewals which is how we got these APs :thumbsup2 We upgraded from our 4 day tickets! Thanks again!

I would call and ask about any AP room only rates and see how they compare with your current offer. Not sure if the AP rates for Dec are out yet (or even being offered) but something to look into.
There is an AP rate out for that time period, but it seems to be very limited. The only thing left for the same travel window as our WL trip is a Treehouse at Saratoga Springs which is a bit farther out than what we were hoping for!

If you can change the reservation they will do it, but if the only option they have left for that room includes the tickets you'll be stuck with them. however, you can just keep the tickets and use your AP. Save the tickets for next year (or later).
