last time I went to orlando I just had hair dryer which had a 110 switch so was ok. but now have a hair straightner which doesn't have any wattages switches, has anybody tried to use them their? I can't be bothered to take them if I'm not sure (extra luggage weight!) but it means extremely bad hair for 2 weeks and many scrunchies.

my g/f took hers with her last sept and nearly had heart failure when she realised they didn't work properly !!

they don't get as hot as they do in the uk as they're only being fed half the power so don't expect them to straighten your hair as well as over here

Cheers - I thought as much, just have to have curly locks and scrunchies for 2 weeks then.

Never mind

well they do work a little bit

i'm sure it was enough for during the day but i think she said she was glad we weren't getting really dressed up to go anywhere in the evenings as they wouldn't straighten her hair enough

:)

Maybe WalMart, Target or somewhere do cheap ones? I bought a European voltage hairdryer when I was in France once as I'm in Europe regularly.

Thats a question I never thought of asking.
I've got seriously scary hair without my straightners
I would imagine they'd be cheap enough to buy over there though. It'd be worth it anyway.

the question really shouldn't be whether they technically work, it should be do they 'work' and unfortunately the answer is 'no'. Even with US straighteners, the humidity curls your hair again within an hour. I had mine done at the hairdressers over there, look great in the salon, looked great in the Mall, went outside and within 30 minutes it had started to frizz. Ah well:(

I belong to the 'person with straight hair who tries to get it to curl' brigade - won't happen for me either by the sound of it!

How frustrating to spend money in a salon only to have it all frizz back up outside!!

Thanks for your advise everyone - didn't think i'd get such a response to that one!

- i completely forgot about the humidity factor. We've only ever been in october when the humity wasn't so bad but this year we are going last week in august first week sept when i think humity may be greater?

oh well, vanity out of the window for a fortnight then, just have to keep wearing the mickey ears at night too!

When I went in June/July 2002 my hair was a nightmare!! I had it cut before we went and my fringe (which I no longer have - phew! ;) ) was shorter than usual and ended up curling most of the way up my forehead everyday because of the humidity, At first I was soo self-conscience about it but I gave up worrying in the end, I just brushed to one side and got on with enjoying the best place on earth!!! :jester:

Have a great holiday :Pinkbounc :bounce:

PS. A Baseball cap is a wonderful thing!!!! :teeth:
