Will MK Train return this year?

I expect there will be much wailing and rending of garments when october rolls around and the only thing referencing the opening will be inedible cupcakes with q $19.71 price tag on them. No TRON, No Train, No Fireworks, No Parade but Profits galore for Wall St

And we finally get to the nerve that was hit...

Which would be odd because Disney doesn't send it's engines there and even if they did they wouldn't have anything that would identify them as being from Disney world.
The Walter E Disney was just rebuilt at Strasburg, The Roger E Broggie is currently there. Lilly was rebuilt at Tweetsie. Strasburg does hide the names, etc but if you know steam engines, it's not hard to know where it came from. Not sure of why the switch from Tweetsie to Strasburg but thats where the WDW trains go now.

Strasburg does a lot of rebuilds and other work on stream engines including Disney and Dollywood that I know of besides their own engines

Perhaps they had some sort of problem with Tweestie and decided to switch because of that, which could also possibly be why Lilly Belle was there for 4 years as a poster said it was. From what I can gather from various reports I've seen from other railrds depending on how extensive any problems with a boiler on an engine are it usually takes 1 to 2 years again depending on what needs to be done

I hope the train is back by our fall trip, but I doubt it.
They don't seem to be working too hard to finish Tron, and I doubt the train will open much before Tron does.

Yeah I don't think it's likely that they are going to be operating the train with guests on board through a construction site. I think we will probably have to wait until they finish the Tron attraction.

Hopefully they are doing these updates/changes in parallel to the Tron construction. Is there construction going on at the Main Street Station or is that just for making a backstage area for the characters that appear on the balcony?

From what I heard it was backstage / scene updated / additional track replacement.

TRON ain't happening for who knows how long but long enough to require that the existing construction be sealed which is very expensive and is usually done for construction halts of 2 or more years if it were only for 6-18 months the standard Florida construction protection against rain and wind would be sufficient. Without a completed TRON there is not a complete loop for the train to operate over.

Well, those 2 years went by pretty fast. :-)

No train on the 50th is worse than no Tron to me. Going on 2 years of living here and still haven't been able to take that relaxing ride around the park. At this point, I just hope it reopens before they close splash forever. Need to ride through and see that set one more time.

At minimum I hope they have the train active in some way. They could have the steam running, the train whistle blowing for park guests walking through entrance of the parks.
They could even take it a step further and have the train drive to the back of Fantasyland and reverse back all day. No passengers, but the train operating would create a nice atmosphere.

I would be willing to bet the train is back in time for the 50th, they are working fast on the Tron Canopy, and that sealing the inside to stop work rumor has been debunked. I think once the exterior showbuilding/ canopy is done for tron we will see the train close behind. No one knows if there will be a tunnel or not.
