i thought we landed at 5:30pm but our flight doesn't land till 6:40 pm. We have tickets to MNSSHP that night. It was the only night that would work . I knew we would not have the whole night at the party when I ordered the tickets . We are staying at AOA for that first night then transferring to BLT the next day for the rest of our trip . i did online check in already. I was wondering, instead of taking the time to go to AOA first, then catching a MK bus, whether ME would allow us to get on a ME bus to the Contemporary and then we could just walk to MK and get as much time as we could at MNSSHP. Then after the party, go to AOAand our luggage should be in our room by then. Any thoughts on whether they would allow us to do this?

They won't. They'll only take you to your registered resort.

No, they will not. You also have to take into consideration that those busses don't always leave right away. You land at 6:40, by the time you make it from your terminal down to the ME, check in, wait to board, board, wait around for a few other guests.....You may not make it to AoA until 8:30-9:00. I'm not exaggerating. And that is *IF* your bus takes you directly there, if you stop at two or three other resorts first, it will be longer. And if your flight is delayed.....well.....I guess there is nothing you can do about that. Its too bad that your arrival night was the only night you could go.

My advice is to spend the $50 on a cab. If you put your yellow luggage tags on your checked bags, they will go to your resort regardless of if you check into the ME podium. There are always taxis waiting, I've never had to wait for one to be dispatched. If you aren't carrying anything you need to immediately drop off, or are carrying things that can be stowed in a locker at the gate, take the cab straight to the MK. You should be there by 7:30.

Maybe take a taxi to MK if it is in your budget? ME will still take your luggage to your resort I'm 99% sure. Maybe one of the experts will chime in.

****looks like i posted at the same time as someone else with he same idea****

Um, one thing to keep in mind if you plan to tag your luggage and not ride DME. You luggage will likely make it to your resort just fine, but if something goes awry and a bag goes missing, once Disney learns you didn't get on a DME bus, it absolves them of any responsibility to help you find the missing bag.

The bags don't ride with guests in the same bus, so there's no connection.
I never said the luggage rides with the guests on the bus. Disney does know, however, whether you got on their DME bus. From the *sticky* post on the transportation board about using DME for luggage without riding it yourself.

Now....the only issue you may run into is this....
You tagged 3 bags. You get to your resort, using a towncar or rental car. You do not checkin at the DME welcome counter. You get to your resort, get checked in, and then head off to a park. You return to your room, many hours later, assuming your bags will be there, waiting, in your room. But, you find only 2 bags in your room! So, you call Bell Services and start the search. The airlines have a window in which you should be submitting a claim for missing/misdirected bags....this window may have passed by the time you realize you have missing bags. Of course, WDW/DME may have just sent your missing bag to the wrong resort.

So...long story short....Disney tells you that you have to ride the bus to get your luggage delivered. Disney will move all yellow, DME tagged bags, from MCO to WDW resorts...whether or not you are on a DME bus.

Thought I would update you all on our trip into Orlando. Glad to report it all worked out !! We landed at 6:45 pm , went to restrooms at MCO, brushed teeth and freshened up, walked down to the taxi area, got in a cab and we're through the turnstiles for MNSSHP at 7:55 pm!!! One hour and 10 min after we landed! It did cost around $65 plus top which was more than I was expecting . The taxi dropped us off at BLT and we walked to MK. Had a great time at the party despite the rain!! Stayed for the last Hocus Pocus show that didnt start till 12:20 am , then caught the bus for AOA. It was almost 1:30 when we got to AOA to check in. Got our room assignment and yeah, all luggage was in our room awaiting for us!!! So, I worked out great for us! No guarantee of anyone else tries it but worth a shot!

Glad it worked - will add a note from what happened to us in Jan 2014 for Marathon Weekend. Our flight was delayed, so delayed that we were going to miss the expo and picking up our bibs for the race. We got on the Magical Express to AKL and started talking to the Driver. He told us there was no way we would make it, so told us to get off at one of the other hotels on the route (forgive me, don't remember which, think it was AOA or POP) and take a cab from there to WWOS. They got us a cab, we grabbed our luggage and made it to the expo, getting through right as they closed.

With all that, I'd say you have to get on the bus that of your resort, but no one is going to check where you get off. While I tipped him well, my biggest regret is not getting the bus drivers name so I could send him a comment card.
