Ok, so I have reservations (can cancel) for June 2 - June 10, my question is will the Kong ride be open? I have seen June 23rd blackout date mentioned, I guess I am wanting to know if the ride has any chance of being open when I am there or should I move vaca to July (not really wanting to do this as rooms, etc.. are all more expensive. Thanks

As of now Media event for it is June 22-24th so unless there is a soft opening ( and there could be), I wouldnt count on it

I'd say if it's a huge deal, move your dates...there's never a guarantee of a soft opening. We always travel around early June...we have seen a couple soft openings and a few more were the week before or after we were there.

For us, it's just another excuse to go again next year :D

Just read rules on a contest Nickelodeon has for a trip to Universal website is : http://www.flyawaywithnick.com/#sweeps wanted to put it here maybe one of us will win it. But this is right out of rules:
7. Prize Conditions/Restrictions . Travel arrangement must be made through Trip Package Provider and all elements of the Trip Package must be redeemed at the same time; no changes will be permitted after confirmation of any redemption.Travel must take place between June 22, 2016 and June 25, 2016 (or on such other date as solely determined by Trip Package Provider to coincide with the "Skull Island: Reign of Kong" VIP Preview event) .

So, I guess that is when it will open so too risky to hope for soft opening june 2-8th.

My advice is that if KONG is one of the major reasons for your trip, there is just no way to know if there will be soft openings early June. There likely could be , but soft openings are not guaranteed and are unpredictable as to when and how long they are going on.You kind of have to just have to be in the right place at the right time. I would move your dates to when you know it will be open if it is that important to you..I did the same thing .I was going to go in early June. But Kong is one of the major reasons we are going , so I moved our trip to Mid August

How long are you willing to wait before you cancel?

Everything I am reading is pointing to media day June 23rd so if I extend trip to 7th through 14th-15th should be a better than average chance softs will be operating to make sure it works on media day. And if not, I plan on upgrading 14 day ticket to an AP so can go back in Oct. for bday trip and ride it then. Can I do the upgrade to AP at any time during 14 day window, just didn't want to upgrade early cause they are park to park and wet n wild tickets.

If they are the 3 park unlimited ticket, they cannot be upgraded.

Keep an eye on this thread for softs info and whatnot. http://forums.orlandounited.com/threads/skull-island-reign-of-kong.9476/

UGH...we are planning a trip on Father's Day Weekend but were heading back north around June 22nd/23rd. I'd really love to see Kong though. Might end up buying 1-day passes to use Thanksgiving week (while we have plans to be in WDW) just to go there if it doesn't open while we are there in June!

I betcha Kong will have been open for about a month by June 22/23.
