I spoke with my guide today about an add on at AKV. Since Jambo house is sold out, I wouldn't be able to get current 2007 points at AKL and I'd have to waitlist to get the points. Or, if I bought Kidani, I could get the points but not use them until 2009...Ummm decided to hold off..

Anyway, the reason I considered the small add on was to occasionally have access to the concierge rooms at AKL. I realize there aren't many available now, but when Kidani is built will there be more there, or will they all be at Jambo House? If Jambo house is it, I'm guessing non owners will have no ability to book that level room.

All of the official info on AKV states that only Jambo House will have Concierge villas (and Value villas as well).

For example, this info comes from the AKV FAQs page on the public DVC website:

What type of rooms will be located at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas?

The room types by building are as follows:

Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge:
  • Dedicated Studios
  • Studios
  • One Bedroom Vacation Homes
  • Two Bedroom Lockoff Vacation Homes (5 of the Two Bedroom Lockoffs will offer Kilimanjaro Club Concierge service)
  • Grand Villas (one story)
  • Several Dedicated Studios and Two Bedroom Lockoffs are designated as Value accommodations due to their smaller size
The proposed Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas at Kidani Village:
  • Studios
  • One Bedroom Vacation Homes
  • Two Bedroom Lockoff Vacation Homes
  • Dedicated Two Bedroom Vacation Homes
  • Grand Villas (two story)
  • There are no Value or Concierge accommodations in Kidani Village
  • The One and Two Bedroom Vacation Homes in Kidani Village only will have a full bathroom adjacent to the living room

Thanks for the info...guess I better hope to get concierge now because I don't think non owners will ever see it again..:lmao:

I'm not even sure some owners will ever see it again. I think as the number of AKV owners grows it's going to be difficult to book an entire stay there, other than during very quiet times of the year. I can imagine calling day by day and getting some days but not others and wait listing for those other days. Meanwhile some other owners got the days I didn't and are waitlisted for the days I have and we're all waiting for someone else to cancel!

I think I'll call tomorrow and see it there are *any* three nites together in October or September. I'm really flexable as I'll be driving down with a couple friends and can go whenever....

Yeah good luck, we booked months ago and were able to get one night of our stay from sept. 12-20. I hope you have better luck!

I was going to suggest September until erin.w posted about her experience trying to book for that time. So now I don't know what to suggest! :confused3

I figured it would be next to impossible to book these in the future, so we got our CL stay out of the way the first AKV trip last month! We called the first day it was available to book. I'm not expecting to ever be able to do it again, even at the 11 month window. We didn't think it would be such a big deal to have concierge, but both of us loved it!

That's exactly what is happening. I called yesterday and got one night concierge studio but I called for the second night today and got waitlisted, thanks to the "upgrade" that was going on in MS at 9 am. What a mess.

But I'm not giving up the one night concierge even if I have to move the second night to the savannah view. I just have the two nights at AKV so I will suffer through if we have to change rooms. I'm hoping someone ELSE got the one night here and one night there booking over a longer period so that they give up and release a concierge studio on the night I need!

For Inkmahm: At least you will have use of Concierge the second day if your waitlist doesn't come through. That should make the time between 11 am and 4 pm pass in a much better fashion.

As for booking strategies -- whenever concierge came online for AKV owners over the summer, I called MS and gave them 3 weeks in July and August looking for a 3 day stay that included Wednesday night. We got the 29th, 30th, and 31st of July and I've booked both Sunset and Sunrise safaris. I too don't know when I will be able to book concierge in the future.

I am getting excited over the safaris and promise not to complain about the view from our studio!:thumbsup2

We have done the Sunrise Safari before, back in Dec 2006 when I had a cash concierge room in order to book it. Then last Dec we stayed one night cash concierge AKL before our cruise but did the Sunset safari instead. We love both of them. We stayed AKV concierge for 5 nights this month so I can't complain. I booked them all at once last October I think it was, I know it wasn't at the 11 month mark. This time we did just the Sunrise safari again.

I think I'll wait on doing the Sunset again until the savannas are settled. When I am to be there next March , there won't even be animals on the sunset savanna. But it is such a hassle to get the rooms... who knows. Maybe not.

By calling day by day and as soon as the lines opened we were able to book concierge at the 11 month mark 2 nights before we cruise December 22-24. I guess we better enjoy it because it sounds like it may be the last time we may ever see it again!:scared1:

I was able to get a 2BR concierge for 10/19-10/25. Yes, I called day by day at 11 months. :)

DH and I are staying 3 nights in studio concierge in July....I booked that at about 7.5 months out.

It's good to hear that the not so "hot" times are a little easier to book, at least for now!

A BCV owner friend booked a 1 bedroom concierge 4 nights for the end of June, day by day at 7 months. And she invited me and 2 other friends!
