Will it be too much to gate check 2 car seats and 2 strollers?

I plan to rent a car at MCO, with DH driving to the resort and I will be taking the girls for ME, so that we do not have to claim the luggages.

However, after we check in, I plan to go out for dinner, hence we will need the car seats for the girls, therefore, I like to take the car seats with us. In addition, I think it may be difficult to tie up the strollers to check in at the airport, I never did it well, therefore, I plan to gate check them as well.

We had never gate check either of them, I used to give the strollers to the counter agents, I never really tie the strollers well, but then I used to claim the luggage myself, but this time the strollers will be handled by the CM, I thought it may be too messy for the CMs to handle. When I saw discussions on people gate checking both stroller and car seat, hence I like to give it a try. There will be 4 of us, but will it be possible for us to hand over 4 pieces at the gate? I guess I can, but is it reasonable to do so?

thanks
felicia

We've gate checked three pieces (Delta) -- two strollers and a high backed booster seat, with no trouble.

We've also luggage-checked our car seats with no trouble.

Good luck!

Delta specifically states that strollers and car seats do not count against your checked baggage allowance, so I think you will be just fine. Just remember to ask the gate agent for gate check tags for everything before you board. Also, if you don't have carrying bags for the car seats, ask the counter agent for a couple of the big plastic bags they use for car seats.

I would definitely get some carrying bags for your car seats. They make them in styles where you can wear it like a backpack, so your hands are freed up for other things. It will also serve as a little added protection for the seats.

As everyone else has stated, you shouldn't have much trouble gate checking. Just make certain that each item is gate checked individually.

I dont think car seats count as carry ons, when your kids are sitting in them. You might want to double check when they are just taking up space.

I've never flown on an airline that counted them, but I did recently look up Delta's policy and it states strollers and carry-ons do not count against your baggage allowance.

Thanks. I wasn't worry them being counted as luggage. We fly SW, I think each of us can carry three. In the past, I generally checked them in at the counter, but just can't image what the FA would think if I were to dump her 4 items at the gate.

Tara, thanks for the link, I am cheap (LOL). My girls will be 5 and 7 while in WDW, I suspect I won't be using the bag too many times, but for $19 (and I have the toysrus gift cards, it will be like $16) probably I will look into it.
