Will it be a problem booking room separate from tickets?

We plan to book a room now, but want to save money for later to buy the tickets. Will this be a problem? Can your room key still be linked to your spending account if you get tickets separately?
The only disadvantage I see is you have to carry 2 tickets, room card AND ticket card instead of being on the same.

You can certainly make a room only booking, now and get your tickets later.
You will still be able to charge back to your room, and from what I've read the resort may be able to put your tickets on your room key so that you only have to carry one card.

helenk is correct. Even if you purchase tickets from somewhere other than Disney, you can have them added to your room key at the resort so you will only have one card to carry around.

In addition to being able to add your ticket purchased elsewhere to your KTTW, you can also wait until you check in to purchase your tickets. You might be able to find tickets discounted somewhere. But if that is not a huge issue, hang on to your money until you arrive. Only advice I would have is to decide what kind of tickets you want ahead of time. If you don't research it ahead of time, it can be very confusing trying to make a decision with a long line of folks waiting to check in behind you.

Another possible minor disadvantage that I have read from elsewhere on DIS is that if you put the tickets on your room key and they are non-expiring and you end up with extra day(s) you will have to hold onto that card for future use. I think you can simply use the card in the future but I don't remember the details.

I always buy our tickets elsewhere for a cheaper price than from Disney. We linked our tickets and room key on only 1 trip. Since then we have always bought non-expiring tickets with extra days (to save days for future use; inflation-proof so to speak) and kept them separate. It's no big deal for us to carry both around.
