Will I regret not getting a sentimental gift?

My 21st is next week :cool1: and my mum really wanted to get my something to keep, a nice piece of jewelry or a watch.
However, I have some nice jewelry already from my 18th bday and I don't really need any more, I can only wear so much at one time!

I've asked instead for a spa day with my best friend and some winter boots.

My mum seems a bit disappointed that I don't want something sentimental....do you think I'll regret it one day if I don't get something like that? I'm just so much more into practical gifts than 'pretties'

Darn! I left my crystal ball at a friends house. Sorry.
Just kidding. It's here. ;)

I don't think you'll regret it if you already have one nice piece that is sentimental to you. A day at the spa sounds great and very memorable. And if that's what you want and will make you happy then go for it! :flower:

Any chance of getting both?! :goodvibes

Happy 21st!!!! :wizard:

It's ok mammau4, panic over....if you check your post about what you're getting for xmas you'll see that you're getting socks and re-gifting them to me! So that's my sentimental gift for the year sorted!

Perhaps you could do a spa day with your mom? I bet it would mean a lot to her.

I thought of this but I have two younger sisters (one of whom also has a bday next week) who are just too young to go to a spa but too old to accept that just me and my mum are going.

Also is my friends bday a few days after mine and we have a long tradition of doing bday stuff together :goodvibes

Its YOUR birthday. Don't they get 'special' treatment for their birthday?

I would still go do the spa day with your mom. It's the right thing to do. As for the "too old to accept" part, I think that siblings need to spend one-on-one time with their parents once in a while. Your sisters shouldn't dictate what you do on YOUR birthday. They may be miffed, but they'll get over it.

I would do the spa day! My b-day is next week also and my mom asked me what I wanted for my B-day but I can't decide! Maybe I'll ask for a spa day too! :teeth:

At risk of sounding like a total 'meanie' I spend quite a lot of time with my mum anyway, we have quite a lot of quality time together. On the other hand my best friend and I NEVER get to see each other because she works so hard and lives far away from me. I miss her!

My DD turned 18 this past summer. She got a spa day as her gift and absolutely loved every second of it. She said it was the best gift she had ever gotten. I think you'll love it.
