Will I regret it?

We are going back to WDW for Star Wars weekend (for the first time), and am considering bringing my 70-200 2.8 lens. My question is would I regret it if I didn't bring it.

I plan on bringing my Nikon 18-200, Tamron 28-75 2.8, and Tokina 11-16 on my D300. We probably wont go to AK this time, but we are also going to Universal and Harry Potter.

I'll have the reach with my 18-200, and speed with the Tamron.

Will I regret leaving the 70-200 at home?

I'm not a Nikon user but why not leave the 18 - 200 at home and take the 70-200? My guess is the constant 2.8 makes it a heavier lens so that's your only concern? You have most of your wider focal lengths covered with the other 2 lenses.

Kind of had the same thought.

It is the weight of the 70-200 and carrying it around all day. I'm just wondering would I get enough use out of it with the others to make it worthwhile to bring and carry around? I haven't had it at our previous Disney trips, just used my 18-200 as my walk around lens, and the 11-16 for low light. This will be the first trip with the Tamron as well.

Thanks for the responses.

About the only time you might need that big of a zoom is around the parades, or if you have a child participating in a Jedi skit...other than that, most of the SW characters are easily accessible and they have photo times where you can have your picture taken w/ them, like the other parks...I would go w/ the lighter zoom myself...b/c when I was there for SW Week, it was HOT!!!!

I've gone days in the various parks with just an 18 - 50 f2.8 and have made out ok. My 50 - 200 is a heavy lens and I'm not sure I'd want to lug it around all day in the heat.

That makes sense. Have a blast! If you decide not to take it, all it means is you have to make sure you bring it next time - whenever that is.

I don't think you will miss it at all. I shot the indoor shows (Lion King, Nemo, etc.) with my 28-70 f2.8. Most everything else is outdoors where you wouldn't need the 2.8. The only reason I brought mine was to have the extra zoom when the wife was using our 50-200 on her camera. It seems like whenever I need the extra reach she is using it. Then I have nothing. Because of the heat, as the week wore on, my kit got lighter and lighter. So, if it was just me shooting, it would stay home replaced by the 50-200 (ours is very light).

I dont go anywhere without my 70-200 2.8 IS, and always carry it every day of our 14 day holidays to Florida.

Well worth it.

I never leave my 70-200 home when going to Disney. I don't take it with me to the parks every day. I take it with on the days when I know there's something I want to shoot with it. It's always with me at AK and Epcot. Rarely take it with to MK or DHS.
