Will I need a jacket/sweater?

We are going to DW at the end of april, first of May. I don't think I have even been down there at this time of the year.

Could anyone tell me if we would need a sweater/sweatshirt/light jacket at the start and end of the day? (We stay till closing!) My current plan is to either pack a lightweight longsleeve shirt to toss on under t-shirts, or a cardigan type sweater.

What do you all think?

I think its ALWAYS a good idea to have one with you, just in case.
I know that personally, even in August I have one with me because sometimes the AC can get a little intense in restaurants and I like to have the option of another layer once I fully cool down!

It's not a bad idea to have a long sleeved t-shirt 'layer' that can get packed away, or a lightweight windbreaker type jacket. That time of year is usually warm but can be unpredictable. Last year my mom was down there for the garden festival and SWW, and she needed jeans and a sweatshirt on some days the whole day through; other days she was in shorts and tank tops.

Have fun!

I like to layer, but it generally warms up quickly. The exception being Fantasmic. The sprays of water leave me freezing! I sit as far back in the theater as possible and still wear a sweater.

To me its more off a trade off decision.

When you get to the parks for EMH at 8am, its still a little chilly, but 2 hours later its warm and nice. Since i'm very much a "Phone, Magicband, Battery Pack & ID" guy I hate the idea of having a jacket that I might need to hold onto or take off. I like to carry pretty much nothing.

So While you might need it for that slight part of the morning or evening, I'm happier to be a little chilly for an hour to avoid having to lug around a jacket :)

Ahhh...with 3 kiddos, we normally always carry a nice size backpack and softsided cooler. We still have a big stroller, so we have easy storage. I am not too concerned with space at the parks...more concerned with space in my luggage! Based on what you all wrote, if we added a jacket or 2 and a long sleeve tshirt per person, we should be more than prepared?

I've been going to WDW for my bday 5/6 every year since 2006. I can only really remember 1 night in all those trips (usually 7 nights) that I needed long pants and a long sleeve shirt.

I do however always bring one with me-I wear it on the plane. I don't always carry it to the park-I check the weather first. Early May can be very hot.

Just wear the jackets on the plane. No luggage space needed.

I always bring a sweater with me everywhere I go, and I live in Orlando. The AC always makes me cold.

Let me google that for you... lol, j/k.

The low is suggested to be 67 at day break. The high should be in the mid to upper 80s according to historic weather data. The decision to lug a cardigan (and I love 'em) is up to you. We will be there the following week and I'll be packing bikinis, sundresses and sandals:) Not sure all my girlfriends would make the same decisions tho, but I thought some actual data would be useful.

HA! I actually did use accuweather.com, to see what the average temp is. But, 80 degrees in Indiana...feels different in Florida. Last time, we went in March, and the normal weather was supposed to be in the 70's...we were FREEZING in the evenings, and my dh actually borrowed my longsleeve shirt to wear under his polo. (I am little and he is muscles...so it was funny. lol) Also, after this long, ridiculous winter, I forget was 65 degrees w/o the sun shining on you, feels like. Sigh...can't wait for this winter to be over!

I have mostly tanktops and skirts on my list. A cute cardi will be lightweight to pack for sure. Actually wouldn't mind needing to wear it, b/c that would mean that it wasn't ridiculously hot either! :beach:

I usually take a cardigan on the plane, so I have one either way, but wouldn't pack one special for the weather.

I agree about wanting winter to be over. Jeez! I cant recall using the word "dank" more often to describe anything, ever, before this winter.

I have an unlined windbreaker that will even squish into a fanny pack that I will often take to the parks. Unlined ones are hard to find but work just as well as heavier, bulkier ones.

Florida resident here:

It's hot right now. Cool/humid in morning, hot/humid in afternoon, and it has gotten a little chilly in the evening. I'd call it "crisp". I've been wearing jeans still and a t-shirt. I have moved to skirts (hate shorts). I have a short sleeved sweater that I wear and the air conditioning is typical Florida freezing/over compensating. Currently wearing closed-toes shoes, have yet to move to sandals. Bring sunscreen!!!

Does that help? It's not a northern 70-76, it's a true 76 with humidity. Bring rain gear since it has rained lately.

I'd leave the sweater behind. This way if I do become uncomfortable I can justify the purchase of yet another Disney sweatshirt.:earboy2:

thats what we do...we always check http://www.weather.com/weather/today/Orlando+FL+USFL0372

Gotta love Mr Google...

We always go April/May and always bring a sweater or long sleeved something when we have ADRs. Their restaurants are FREEZING. Don't use them much outside unless we r out at night sometimes, but it's pretty rare.

Since you'll have the storage space for it, I'd say add them to your park-pack list. Even though it's warm during the day, if the wind picks up, you'll want something at night.
I remember one lovely late spring day - hot, sunny, dry - and later huddling together under a poncho watching Illuminations, because the wind blowing across the lagoon was truly bone-chilling. Out of the wind was still nice, but...

:thumbsup2 I like the way you think :rotfl:
