Will I lose my FP+s if I change my resort reservation?

I currently have a package booked at AKL. My FP booking window opens in a week. It is possible that my parents may decide to join us on this trip. If so, I would need to change my resort from AKL to a moderate and also book a room for them at the same resort. If I change my resort package after booking our FPs at the 60 day mark (but before the 45 day balance due date), will I lose our FP+s?

It's unlikely that you'd lose the FP+ reservations, but
the safest way to do this is to simply make the NEW reservation before canceling the old one.

You might also want to get on the phone with CS to make sure................ :hyper2:

I don't know that you can have two reservations at two resorts for the same dates...

If it's a package, it's likely you could lose them. If it's a room-only with separate tickets attached then less likely as long as you kept the tickets linked.

Ideally, if you are going to change resorts, I would try to get everything changed before the 60 day window opens. Or be ok with possibly losing your picks.

I would definitely make sure you at least have tickets linked before cancelling your package. I had a package booked through Disney and I made my FP reservations. I later booked a room only through orbitz and tickets separately through orbitz. I waited the 4 days to get my conf number from orbitz for tickets to link them to mde before I called Disney to cancel my package. Nothing was changed with my fastpass selections since I had tickets linked. So for a few hours I actually had 2 resort reservations and 2 sets of tickets linked to my MDE.

I lost mine- and I think that may have been the reason. I simply asked about changing my dates for our package resort stay... what would be the cost, etc. and the CM changed my reservation on me. When the CM told me they were changed I of course said I'm not making the change, but just inquiring what is the cost. (my son had an injury requiring surgery and it was unclear if we would be able to keep the dates). So the reservation was reverted back to the original dates... all in the same phone call.

Anyway, we were able to keep the dates but the day before we left for our trip all our FP+ for 6 day trip were gone. I spent 1 hr 40 min on the phone w/ guest relations rescheduling FP+ selections.

Make sure to ask ahead of time and see what they can do to make sure you don't lose them. It was incredibly inconvenient.

I thought FP+ was linked to park tickets primarily, so is this only an issue if you have a package with tickets included? My parents are still trying to change resorts for part of our trip in 13 days (DVC waitlist) But all 11 people in our party have annual passes, so although the rooms may change, the tickets are not linked to our room necessarily, they could exist on their own as they are APs? Do I need to be concerned that those who would be changing rooms may lose their FPs if the waitlist come through? It is not my immediate family, but other members of our party on linked reservations, who are changing. After working hard to get all those FPs together it would be frustrating for all the work to disappear...

1. In this case, we are talking about the interconnection of needing a WDW resort reservation in order to make FP+ reservations
60 days in advance.

2. Guests with APs and no WDW resort reservations can make advance FP+ reservations up to 30 days before their day(s)
at the parks.

3, Once the FP+ reservations are made, (WITH having a WDW reservation) it is unlikely that the FP+
would drop off if the resort reservation was changed or cancelled.
But, with the glitchy system that is in operation, you should be concerned about everything.

4. Unlikely that you'll lose the FP+ (But, when guests make changes... you never know.)

Related question. We're booked at BC for 8 night stay. room only res. Tickets will be bought and linked on MDE. If parents RCI comes through (which will probably be after the 60 day window), we'll switch most of our stay Sun-Sun to the DVC villa, probably Bonnet Creek, likely keeping the 1st Sat night at BC. If i book FPs at the 60 day mark but later cancel most of the BC reservation, will the later FPs disappear? From info on the "throwayroom thread", I'm guessing no, but anyone have experience with this. I'm probably safer if I cancel after the 30 day mark? I'm guessing my ADRs would also be fine?

1. Basically, all of my answers in post #9 above apply to this.
Especially, "unlikely that you'll lose the FP+ (But, when guests make changes... you never know.)"

2. ADRs are not connected to tickets or resort reservations.

We actually just switched packages and everything transferred over with the change. I did, however, check as soon as it was final so I could rereserve if that had been necessary. As I wrote, though, it wasn't. Good luck!

Keep looking daily. Ours FP+ seemed to get deleted maybe 3-4 days after the change. Take pictures now - they have no access to them once gone. If they get deleted, work with guest services to make sure they give you what you want.

The way I understand it....For the FPs linked to APs with a room-only res....If you booked them at day 60 because of an onsite room reservation, when you cancel that reservation, you won't be able to change them anymore until day 30 when the booking window opens again.

In general, if you cancel a room-only stay after day 60, but keep the tickets linked, your FPs should stay. You will see them in there, but you won't be able to change them from day 60-30.

At day 30, the booking window will open back up again, so you can change them around again.

It sounds like you are keeping one night of the BC reservation, so the booking window might even stay open in your case.

I don't think i'll ever get this down:guilty:

If I have an onsite hotel reservation in place and book FP+ at the 60 day mark,

then decide cancel the reservation for 'whatever' reason (after the 60 day mark but prior to final cancellation penalty for room only):

1) my FP+ selections &

2) my ADRs booked 180+10

will remain in place & reflect on my MDE account that has tickets associated with it.

1. Yes
2. ADRs are not affected because they are not tied to room reservations nor tickets. They will remain as is.
