If I were to go through a broker to rent DVC points, which that is what I will be doing next year, will it be that difficult for me to reserve a value studio at AKVs if we are all on the phone at the 11-month date when members services first open that morning. Thanks.

Oh and also, what is the difference is a value studio and a standard?

There are only 18 or 20 studios, some a part of lock offs. You would need a AKV owner. December is a busy time for DVC.

The value studios are 3 feet shorter than the standard studios. View can be parking lot, savannah or pool. You cannot request a view with the value category.

It will probably be difficult. I think there may be only 10 2BR lock-offs which make up the value rooms. These are quite popular with AKV owners, particularly during busy times of the year, like December. With on-line booking, DVC owners have a 1 hour advantage over calling Member Services, so by the time you call at 9AM 11 months before your arrival date, AKV owners have already had an hour to book those rooms. As Denise pointed out, there is no guarantee that you will have a savanna view and I think there is a higher likelihood that you won't.

If you are really looking to use the fewest number of points, you might want to look at a studio at OKW that week. They are much larger and have two queen sized beds, instead of a queen and a sofa sleeper. Alternatively, you could splurge and get a savanna or standard view studio at AKV.

The value studios are all at Jambo and are a little bit smaller than the standard studios.

That's assuming their arrival date is the same as the OP's, right? If other owners are to be arriving at AKV day(s) earlier, the Value rooms can all be gone days before the OP can even call.

You can always try for it. Just be prepared with a back-up plan if it's not available.

I was able to get a 1-bdrm value for a trip in May at the 7-mo mark a couple of years ago. Our plans changed, though, and I had to cancel that room a couple of months later.
