I am scheduled to leave on Amtrak Thursday morning. I am going to stop in Charleston, SC to see my dad. Mind you Dad is still here. He has been trying to get home since Friday. never know, we may end up on the same train. Now the problem is this darned snow. He is scheduled to leave tomorrow at 3:15pm. I don't see that happening. That is smack dab in the middle of the storm.

I have been trying to explain to my son why we might be able to go. You try explaining that to a 10 year old. :scared1:

So I am praying:worship: we get out of NY no later than Saturday night. My train from SC leaves at 5am. Might be on that same train from NY if we leave Sat night.

So all who are trying to get to WDW during this mess. Safe travels and hope we all get there. :hippie:

It's snowing here right now. I've cancelled my classes, but UCinn is still opened.

This is exactly what happened to us the week of Christmas! But, we were driving, so leaving 28 hours late wasn't like missing your train. And really we could have waited another 6 hours...the first part of our trip was pretty dicey.

Wishing you lots of pixie dust for an on time departure and a safe trip!!

Safe journeys to all... just keep thinking about how wonderful all that sunshine is going to feel when you finally get there!

I'm sending good thoughts to you from across the Hudson :goodvibes

We (DH, DS13, DS14, self, DMIL & DFIL) are leaving to drive down on Thursday.

My DMom & DDad just got a call from Southwest Air(SWA). Their flight out tomorrow is cancelled. The next available for them is Sunday.:sad1: They were flying into Tampa to visit my Aunt & Uncle there and meeting up with us on Sunday at WDW. SWA will reschedule them for Sunday, but only to Tampa. :confused3

I say Mom & Dad should just drive down with us. We have 4 days to get there, we'll take it slow. Then they should see if SWA will give them a flight home from Tampa the following week instead. Then they can go see relatives and still get to WDW.

I'm so unsure what to do now. Our DVC trip is booked, no cancelling that. The WDW tickets will be good for a future trip, so I guess that is good. Mom & Dad want to fly. If this storm is as bad as they say I'm afraid the Sunday flight will get bumped too. AUGHHHHH!

:goodvibes: good luck to all trying to navigate this mess. I hope you & your son get there Harlemgirl720. Maybe WDW will be less crowded next week??

Tomorrow will probably be dicey, but hopefully Thursday will be okay.

Good luck! I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Good Luck :thumbsup2

I feel your pain. We just got 36" and now maybe another 12" - 20" tonight. No more.... Please! Here is a pic from our breezeway from Sunday.

Classes are also cancelled at MSOE (Milwaukee School of Engineering) tonight (Tuesday), and we almost never do that.

THAT IS A HECK OF A LOT OF SNOW...LOOKING AT THE PIC I THOUGHT YOU LIVED IN CANADA BUT VIRIGINIA...:scared1:MG

Please send us some pixie dust too. We are scheduled to leave CT at 6:50 a.m on Thursday. I may have some very sad kids.

Spreading pixie dust around! What a winter...I grew up in the '50s and remember this sort of winter in NJ. Lots of snow days and piles of snow in the streets of Newark.

I hope you get out. We are on the northern side of things so are not supposed to get it like you guys.

Here is some more pixiedust that everything gets done quickly so all that are waiting to go to WDW can!

Massive pixie dust to you! We're in the DC area, and our 2/7-2/12 trip had to be cancelled...I was taking a friend and her 11 and 13 year olds...they've been incredibly good sports about it...it is, after all, really obvious why we can't go...

Anyway...hope it doesn't happen to you...will say a prayer as well as sending pixie dust...

Thanks for all the well wishes. We will just play it by ear. I was suprised that they cancelled school tomorrow. Trains have been cancelled for a whole week. My father says he hasnt gotten the call yet that the train is cancelled but I just cant see them leaving tomorrow. One newscast says 6-10 the other says 12-18 inches. Going to work in the am and leaving early.

My GF says to pack extra food just in case, which I will. I will be bringing my laptop so I will keep you updated on my progress.

This winter seems to be going on forever :scared1: but pitchers & catchers are reporting to Spring Training in about 10 days :yay: so the end is in sight :goodvibes The Yankees will be back in NY before we know it :woohoo:

I'm guessing you did not get out today. It is so ugly out. I take the MARC train and all train service is cancelled today. Yesterday they TRIED to run the MARC trains on a special schedule (I was off because the USG is closed). I got an email saying that at 9:30PM last night they were still trying to get the trains home (5 hour delay). One of the biggest problems other then frozen switches (last night's problem) is that trees will be coming down on the tracks today and the clean up is slow. All airports are closed today and nothing is going out. OP, please update us! BTW -- schools here in the Eastern Panhandle of WV are closed the remainder of the week. I'm sure I'm done for the week too. I don't see myself being able to get to work tomorrow either and Friday is my day off.

Good luck with your trip. I guess this is why my DH wants to drive down there next month.
