DH wants to go to 50's Primetime next trip because one of his co-workers just raves about it. I am petrified. I've read on these boards that the wait staff teases you and can actually force feed you vegetables. I would just melt under the table!!!!

We had PS's once and had to cancel. I knew nothing about the "playing along" stuff at that time, but now I'm nervous.

Can you ask to just watch others playing along, or do they more or less count you in? I think DS would freak also.

we had a great time there. i never saw anyone force fed food. our babysitter (male server) told us to mind our elbows and stuff.

i wouldnt be worried about it. its disneyworld, they will back off and make you comfortable at the slightest hint of a frown.

We have eaten there and it was quite enjoyable. The waitress sat down with us and chatted like she was a neighbor. I didn't see anyone being force fed while I was there. You should go. We plan on having a meal there when we go back next month. Annmarie

I was forced to eat another bite once, but it did not bother me. We loved the antics that the CM's did and got involved a lot with their fun.

I would think that if you talk with your server about how you feel, you would probably not be bothered by them. If you like to watch the fun, then you may like it, but if it bothers you that much, you may want to try another place to eat.

Their antics are what makes Prime Time, honestly. Remember, even if you get into the fun, you probably will NEVER see any of these people that are in the restaraunt again and really, who cares what they think!!!!! You're in WDW!!!!!

AZKathy and others - you are so right! I really love the whole WDW atmosphere so I'm sure this resaurant is in keeping with the fun!

Okay - I'll go. After all, meatloaf is my favoraite thing - and I also like a good "adult" milkshake.

Thanks for the great pointers!

Hey!!!!!!!!! Just notice I've been hit by the Tag Fairy! Yeah!

Great attitude!!!!! I have heard their meatloaf is great although I have not had it. I like their shrimp liguini dish, myself. That is what I was fed since I did not clean my plate. Remember to eat everything on your plate and you won't be force fed!!!!!!

We went last Christmas. I didn't want to play along. We didn't have to play the "game". We ate, watched the TV, talked to the server, but skipped the BS.

We were just there and the servers seem to be able to tell who wants to really get in on the act and who just wants to observe the antics. We sat really close to a family from Arkansas and shared a Server and the husband in the Arkansas family was funny and "asked for trouble" (they had been there before and knew how to "act up") so we just enjoyed watching the waitress "speak to him", etc., (made him get up and put his nose to the wall and sing "I'm a Little Teapot"!). I got the impression that the servers must be aware that not everyone would be comfortable with that. They liked to tease my kids "clean your plate" or a few times catching me with my elbows on the table but it all so light-hearted you can't help but laugh. It's all part of the entertainment, if you really, really don't like that at all, you might want to go somewhere else but if you are just afraid of being "made" to do something, don't worry, I don't think that would ever happen, it just didn't seem like that kind of place at all. Try it, I bet you'll like it!!

Thanks guys! I'll go, especially because DH only goes to WDW because I love it. So for him to ask to go to a certain restaurant was such a moment!!! LOL. I won't dissappoint him!

I just quietly told our server to keep the teasing to a minimum -- my dh, mother and kids were not into it either! It's fun to watch other tables. He did tease us just enough to keep our elbows off the table etc. He started to come over to do the airplane with Dh's beans and I gave him the throat across the finger signal to cut it, which he did. We knew what to expect but there was family next to us who looked like they were having a miserable Disney Day and had no clue what Prime Time was about. Just watching them was entertainment in itself.

We plan to eat at PT, but the funny thing is, my 2 sons (age 10 and 13) do not know what happens there! My oldest dd does know, and my youngest dd had heard us talking about it. I can't wait to see the looks on their faces! I'm always telling them to keep the elbows off the table....it's nice that I can take a break that day from doing so!:D

I'm the kind of person that doesn't like wait staff being overly attentive so on our first trip to WDW I cancelled our ps at 50s Prime Time Cafe. I finally plucked up the courage to go on our second trip and I'm glad I did. Try it, you will have a fab time.

We were there 2 weeks ago and I admit I was nervous about how it was going to be. Our server was our "cousin" Scott. He was "just enough"! Not overpowering but funny as heck and DD (9yo) loved the whole experience. DH kept putting his elbows on the table an Scott even peeked in the window and saw him. DD was cracking up. DH ended up singing "I'm a little teapot" and doing the motions. It was a hoot! (OK, I laughed a little ;) )
There was a "cousin" (patron) in our little kitchen who didn't eat all her veggies and she had to be fed one bite like an airplane. She was a good sport.
BTW, DH had the meatloaf and liked it but DD and I split the potroast and he liked it better! Enjoy! We sure did!

We went in February, and had a great time, my kids loved it when our uncle Tim kept telling me to my elbows off the table.
They just were not sure if he really was our uncle or not, what was great is that the kids REALLY behaved during that meal......

If you have young children, you may want to emphasize that everything is done in fun.
Our first visit was wonderful, just the right amount of silliness! Then, my DD4 burst into tears for no apparent reason! Turns out she was full and worried that our "sister" was going to fuss at her like she did with Mom and Dad.
My kids still talk about that meal and LOVED that we got the lectures and things that they normally get! It is on our Can't Miss List for our next trip!

LOL! My DH didn't ask permission before using the "little boys" room, so "Uncle Gary" made him apologize to the kitchen & sing "I'm a Little Tea Pot". My poor DH didn't know the words, so he had to sing "Old McDonald" instead. We will always go back to 50's PT. It's so much fun!:p

The food is good, too!:Pinkbounc

We had one of the most memorable lunches there a year ago. Auntie Claire was our server. She was the best there. She did force feed my daughter her Green beans. However, we had to get her to do it once more for the camera. We have a great picture to remember it. We Loved it, even my daughter. And I would have thought that my daughter and myself would have just died if that would have happened. A much more memorable time if you let them get involved in your experience than just sit there and ignore what is going on. How boring and not much of a story to tell.
