Is there N/A beer on board? Do they ask if you want champagne at the Palo brunch or just bring it? Will everyone be drinking but me and DH? Just wanted to know if alcohol on a cruise is hard to avoid without seeming "goody goody". I'm not really that nice, just don't drink!!! Good lesson for our kids about peer pressure I guess. LOL!

we dont drink , tell the server u do not want the champagne
salivtore our server actually brought us some sparkling cider in stead of champagne it will not be hard .. have not drank in quite a few years one day at a time of course but i know im better for it..... peter

Don't worry too much about it. There is no pressure for you to buy any of the drinks. Once the waiter knows you don't want wine or drinks, they will stop asking you. In fact they sell NA frozen drinks, which is not bad.

You won't be the only one, and your bill will look much nicer than those how do ;) .

I didn't drink and didn't feel pressured at all (ok... except when I saw that delicious chocolate looking N/A frozen drink a teen was drinking who was sitting next to me in the theatre! mmmmm it looked good!)

Hi there.... I don't think I had a "drink" drink the whole time I was onboard the one week cruise... wanted to keep my wits about me travelling with my 7 year old... would be hard to explain "losing her" to my ex-husband LOL

I never felt uncomfortable at all... alot of people don't drink.

>>^..^<<

Thanks for the encouragement, I'm glad they have alternatives. Do they had N/A beer? Enjoy the taste, just not the effects.

WestJones, I'll probably just spend the extra in the spa, but I'm sure I will feel better in the mornings with the spa treatments. LOL

DH and I (ages 27 & 30) often had the 'virgin' versions of the drinks. Never drank during dinner either and never felt pressured or odd not drinking. I think this is one of the reasons we love cruising with Disney...more of a family atmosphere than many other cruise lines or vacations spots. The atmosphere of crazy partying is not often found (or so it seems) on these cruises. We like it that way...even without kids!

Yes, they have n/a beer and all mixed drinks can be made non-alcoholic.

I never felt pressured to drink at all. During deck parties they have mini-bars set up, and they offer, but it's not pushy at all, and its not pushy in the clubs either, server asks if you want anything to drink, and if you say no, they really don't bother you again.

Have fun!

We are not drinkers and we've never felt uncomfortable. DH does like the fruity drinks like the Konk Kooler so he just asks for the non alcholic kind. Just as good and cheaper too!

I am a "two drinks in a year" kinda gal and DH is a Tee-totaller. We have a great time.

I thought you might also want to know - you can order the gift baskets non-alcoholic too - they send you a bottle of sparkling cider in lieu of the champange.

My mom doesn't drink either. Whenever anyone would ask her if she wanted something she would tell them "no thanks, I'm driving". :p
Everyone always got a kick out of it!

No big deal at all! Look at all the people on this thread who don't drink!

My 2 year old loved the non-alcoholic konk kooler. I didn't want to share, but he wasn't taking no for an answer! We ended up ordering him his own. :)

What is the price difference between the the alcohol and no-alcohol drinks? Just wondering!

No drinking, no problem at all. We didn't drink much on our first cruise - I think we had 2 bar drinks the whole week. Definitely easier on the room tab - I understand those drinks can add up quickly! Those smoothies added up quickly ;) - those were for the kids, of course (except for a couple...)

DH and I don't drink either. We did not feel uncomfortable about that but be aware that it is offered everywhere.

My beverage server even insisted I put liquor in my drink after I requested it non-alcoholic (he wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer anyway) and on several occasions people we met bought DH beers (he's a 300lb trucker, I guess they assumed - LOL) and he had to politely say no thanks, don't drink.

But watch out if the kids taste them. Our DD was 8 on our first cruise and LOVED the NA strawberry daqs! She finally figured out that asking if she could have one in a restaurant at home was met with a much different reaction than onboard the Magic! :p

I'm a once or twice a year drinker, so the only time I drank on last week's cruise was a toast on Valentine's Day. It did take a few days for our server to stop explaining the wine selections to me as he figured out I'd order Coke anyway. Our end of cruise statement was thin enough to slip under the door, but many other people's weren't! Love those smoothies, though ($$$!) I did have to ask specifically for a non-alcoholic drink at some of the receptions, but they always brought me something tasty and "decorated" with fruit.

FYI, there is a daily AA meeting onboard the ship.

My DH didn't drink at all, and I only had one or two drinks the entire week. We told our Asst Server (Antonio - who is the greatest...) that we don't drink alcohol on our first night, and he never offered again (except to let us know about the special wine souvenir boxes that they sell)... We brought NA beer on board with us because we like O'Doulles but we also ordered NA beer and I believe it was Genessee... The NA smoothies are REALLY good. The chocolate banana was delicious... We didn't notice much drinking at all the entire week (even at the late night functions)...
