Will I be thrown in Disney Jail?

We have a 6 year old boy who is tall enough for almost all the rides at WDW, and a 3 year old girl who is not. They both get magic bands that say they are children (they probably have more personal identifiers on them, like their names and genders and such).

If I book all 4 magic bands to have a FP at, say, Space Mountain, and ride with my son, can he then put on my daughter's magic band to ride again with my wife?

What's the ramifications from Disney if we get caught doing this?

You could just use rider swap. You and son have FP+ for Space Mountain, everyone shows up the line, you and your son ride while your wife and daughter go use their FP+ on Buzz Lightyear, your wife and son ride Space Mountain together with Rider Swap...you don't have to switch magic bands and your daughter still gets to go on a ride

My friend gets motion sickness and doesn't ride Star Tours, and I love that ride, so I went on with my FP+ and then afterward, did it again with her band and FP+. No one said anything.

No issues...our friend used my wife's for a ride. Different gender. The CM laughed and said thank you Hollie with a giggle under her breath. The band was pink so she knew it wasn't his.

Thanks everyone. :) I'll look into Rider Swap as on option. We've never used it before so I have to read up on it.

Absolutely no problem. My son uses mine on certain rides and the CMs just smile and wave him on. He has told me they've called him by my name a few times and smiled.

You don't need to switch bands. If you do rider swap, you can ride with your son while your wife waits with your daughter and then your wife can ride with your son while you wait with your daughter. We had this same situation last year where myself, DH, DS, DN and DS3. Everyone was old enough to ride except DS3. Myself, older son and niece would ride while DH waited with son, and then I would stay with son while DH, DN and older DS would ride. We never had to switch bands, and my older son and DN, of course, loved it because they got to ride twice. We weren't even aware you could do this, but all the CMs told us to do this when we got there.

OK, so how does this work precisely? I ride with my son and we both have FPs, and I tell a cast member before riding that my wife is waiting to ride? Does she need to have a FP for the ride too, or do they give us a paper pass she can use?

She will not need a FP for the ride; you just say she is waiting and they will hand her a little paper slip so she can come back later. She has to come to the entrance to the line with you so that they can verify she is staying with another child after which she is free to go off and do whatever while you ride.
The other perk of this is that she will not have a strict time limit so if you are running late and the first ride in your window is 5 minutes before the window is up, your wife doesn't lose her FP because she is watching your daughter. She can ride directly after you if she wants, but if you all need to get a snack or rush to another FP+ she can come back later with your son and ride then.

We swap bands all the time for FPs. It's often easier than doing RS because the younger one doesn't have to be drug over to a ride that they can't do just to get the pass.

Just to point out, the magic band shows the name on the band, not the MDE account. So I got called Sven for my entire trip because that is what my band said. I was told this was a very common practice. And I used my Dad's all the time when he still had fastpasses left. Had one on one arm and his on the other and no one said a word.

Uhm Yes, Not only will you be thrown in the catacombs under MK, but you'll be put in solitary confinement as well...LoL:rotfl2:

On a serious note No, they won't mind in the least.

We had a large group the las t 2 times, and had FP's for everyone for each ride. Not everyone in the 16 person group wanted to go on a specific ride, so a few of us were told by the CM's that it wasn't a problem to go again for some of us.

Minor correction to info above- your wife has to be at the entrance with your daughter in order to get the rider swap. They won't take your word for it that she's waiting somewhere else, the CMs usually want to see adult and child who won't be riding the first time.

Your three year old is allowed to give her FPs to her brother (by letting him use her MB to scan into the ride).
This is ok no matter what if everyone is in the park .... And as of this writing, even if your three year old wasn't in the park, her brother can still use her band to get on the ride. I used my husbands FPs in November with no problem.

Swapping MBs is fine, but you will probably be thrown in Disney jail for some of your other questionable behavior.

Just kidding, I was only trying to find a place to put my 1,000th post.

As far as I understand it, unless they have closed the loophole, you can book a FP+ for you and your son for Space Mountain, and your wife and your son for Splash Mountain, instead of booking one for both adults on each ride, then use rider swap for the 2nd ride. Then you and your daughter can get one for, say, Winnie the Pooh, and your wife and daughter can get one for Dumbo (or whatever rides you will be taking DD on while the other rides the big rides w/DS).

Can someone confirm/correct my understanding?

Absolutely correct, in our experience.

And in fact, it's even better than that, because:

1. The rider swap pass is usually good until the end of the month, and at the very least it will be good until the end of the day. This allows more time-shifting.

So Dad and Son can ride Space using FP+, wife grabs the rider swap pass at the FP+ entrance to Space, and then takes the daughter over to ride Buzz with Mom and Daughter's FP+. Then Mom and Son don't have to go ride Space right away - they can use the rider swap pass anytime they want, and they don't need Dad or Daughter around when they use the swap pass. This can be VERY useful if your younger child is going to take a stroller nap, or just wants to go play in the Dumbo play area. It's also useful for something like Splash Mountain, because your 6-year-old may not want to ride it twice in a row. And it can allow the big kid to ride once during the day, and again at night.

2. The rider swap pass will usually allow 3 people to ride. So in a family of 5 with one person who is too short, they can use a FP for two people, but have 3 ride with the rider swap. Not applicable to slickpoetry, but helpful for other families.

And to confirm the original question - swapping MBs has seemed to cause absolutely zero concern. We have seen families literally trading magic bands among themselves at the FP+ entrances, in front of CMs.
