Will I be miserable in DW in July and 7 months pregnant?

We were just in WDW last Oct and we planned to take a 7 night Disney cruise this Nov. Well surprise, in Jan. I found out I was pregnant. Its a good surprise, we have been trying for a long time. So we are going to cancel the cruise and we planned on going again to WDW in Nov. 2004. Well then comes the fairytale package. And I started to try and convince DH for a July WDW trip. I'm due the beginning of Oct. so we're pretty limited on trip time. But now I'm having second thoughts. I know it can get pretty hot and miserable in FL in JUly even when you're not pregnant. I know about drinking lots of fluids and taking rests but even so, just wondering if we should just wait until next year. The trip would be DH, DS(5) and myself.

Honestly, I would wait. I can't imagine being in the heat, humidity and rain while pregnant. I know many women don't mind but for me, it would not have been enjoyable in the least to be at WDW at that stage of pregnancy and that time of year. I know there are mellow and indoor attractions but I just would not have had the stamina for all the walking around the parks in the heat. I'd much rather go with a little one AFTER he/she is born. :)

Good luck deciding. :)

Personally, I'd wait but, I really don't like the extreme heat and, June, 2001 was bad enough for me and, I wasn't pregnant.

Congrats on baby!!!

How did you feel last time you were pregnant? I have a friend who is 7 months pregnant and she is miserable right now -- she's had Braxton Hicks contractions for several months, she can't sleep at night, and the baby is feeling really heavy. There's no way she could tackle WDW right now, with the heat and the crowds.
But, if you're having an easier pregnancy, it might be all right! I wouldn't do it, personally.

I think it would depend on how you are doing with this pregnancy. Is it and easy one, difficult one etc. Overall, the humidity would concern me. Wouldn't want you to get down there and start having problems swelling.

To answer your question, I would think so.
I know a lot of people do it, but I, myself, refuse to go in the summer months. I just can't take the heat and humidity.
Good Luck on whatever you decide and Congrats on the Baby!

Are you having a boy or a girl? When I was pregnant with my dd, 48 degrees was sweltering. I had my ds in July and I barely cracked a sweat, and it got up in the high 90's the day I had him.

I would wait. Being 7 months pregnant combined with FL's heat and humidity don't make for a very enjoyable vacation. I will not go to WDW in the summer and I'm not even pregnant. ;)

Good luck with your decision!

go, and just pretend your real fat

First off, if you do plan on going, remember this won't be a commando type trip. I'd recommend only going to the parks during the early morning hours, then in the evenings when the sun has start to set. Stay out of the heat of the day, and relax either at yor hotel room, or in the pool to stay cool. I had a HORRIBLE time swelling with both of my pregnancies, and going anyhere over 90 degrees, made me look like a baloon and very uncomfortable. Would I do it, well maybe, but I would take it VERY easy, which might not be all that much fun for your 5 year old. I wouldn't plan on seeng no more than 2 or 3 attractions at a time, without taking a rest in an airconditioned area. I'd also avoid any rides with longer than a 20 minute wait. If you go into it with your eyes wide open and realize that this will be more relaxation than park touring, you'll do fine. Otherwise, I'd stay home, save the money or go somewhere else if you truly need a vacation.

I would wait. DH and I had a big trip to WDW planned for the end of May this year and then we found out I was pregnant...I'm due July 31st so I would have been around 7 months during the trip so we canceled.

We did go earlier in the year in March instead when I was 18-19 weeks and had a great time. The weather was perfect (not TOO hot yet), the crowds were smaller, and I was still feeling great. We did sit down more and I drank a lot more water, but it was still a fun trip.

Now, I'll be 33 weeks on Thursday and I couldn't imagine being at WDW! I must tell DH almost every day that I'm so glad we canceled the May trip. I can barely walk around the mall, or even Target, anymore. I get so tired, my feet and legs start hurting, I start to swell...it's just not fun. And that's inside...couldn't imagine being outside...even at WDW!

I did this in July of 2000, because my BIL was getting married in FL. I was ok most of the time, but I took several half days off to relax, swim, & shop, while DH, his sister & her teens did the commando thing. I hung out with my MIL. :)

The worst things were the heat & the crowds. My feet & ankles were swollen, and by the end of the day at Epcot (slow paced, but long) I was limping out of the park.

I am about to have my 2nd baby (soon?!!) and while the swelling hasn't been as bad, I felt a lot more pressure a whole lot sooner. I remember thinking that I would NOT have done well at WDW at 7 months this time around, because I got pains from just walking around the grocery store. It was/is a perfectly normal, healthy pregnancy both times.

Best of luck, whatever you decide!

First off, congrats!!

As for your question -- I, too, would wait. I'm miserable enough just walking out to my *car* in July. Add to that the crowds, extra heat found in the parks (we usually count on it being 2-4 degrees hotter than the surrounding area because there are so many surfaces that reflect heat, plus all the bodies), and being 7-months pregnant? Not for me. But ultimately, it's your decision. :) I think that if you took this trip easy, didn't plan on being in the parks all that much, spent a lot of time relaxing in/by the pool and such, you could probably have a good time even in the heat of July. :)

Whatever you decide, good luck, and again congrats!!

I went to WDW at 5 mos pregnant and DL at 7. I was fine, but it wasn't busy nor the summer.

Congratulations. :)

I went to WDW when I was 7 months pregnant. I was pretty big at the time too! Granted it was late Sept. & it wasn't very crowded--- but it was still hot & humid some of those days. Ofcourse, if you go in the summer, it will undoubtedly be hotter.

It is *doable* if you want to do it. You and your party can have fun. You just have to be prepared & flexible. It turned out to be one of our best vacations.

Things that helped me:

1.) maternity belt
2.) powder
3.) comfy sneaks & nice flat sandals for evening
4.) light weight cotton rompers --- all in one short outfits
(wore them all week)
5.) water bottle & mister fan

We stayed at the GF. It helped to be on the monorail. But that was just our preference. We planned a light morning, came back for a swim & nap and headed back out for a light afternoon. Evenings we generally did something around the resort. Listened to the piano playing in the GF lobby, strolled the shops, walked the grounds, swam.

Towards the end of the week, I used a wheelchair. I was reluctant to do it, but afterwards I was glad I did. It helped out so much. I didn't slow down everyone with my sit down breaks. And I felt better at the end of the day. I didn't feel as tired. I borrowed it from the front desk at the resort (no fee) and returned it upon check out. (FYI, If you get one in the parks, there is a fee.)

If you go, just take it easy. I enjoyed the parks so much. I didn't miss not riding most all of the rides. It was great just to be there. Especially great knowing we were having our "last hurrah", since it would be several years before we come back. We want the little one out of diapers before we return. :)

Good luck with your decision,
Annemarie

Is your Dh willing to have a fun trip with ds (probably a great idea with the baby coming), and you can just hang out at the resort and relax and just join them when you feel up to it??? My dd and I go a lot (but we're a single parent family) just because I love the "palling around" time we get there. We go to vacation, not just to do disney.

When I was 7 mos pg, I would not have enjoyed the heat or the activity, but.... I was exhausted my entire pregnancy and I whine if it's over 80 degrees!

It's been a long time since I was pregnant, but I do remember how awful the heat bothered me, and both mine were born at the end of June, and we didn't live in the south! I would definately wait until November. Much better weather, and a baby is easier to transport in a carraige than in front of you!;)

Even when you are NOT pregnant, the heat here in Florida in July and August is pretty unbearable. I've seen pregnant women (6 months or more) at WDW and always felt sorry for them. Holding their backs, not able to ride some rides, sweating, and just plan worn out.

I would wait...

Ask your doctor. If you are in good health you should go. Like the other poster said, you can take a lot of breaks and rent a wheelchair if you have to. :)

Try going to EE when the parks aren't crowded and it isn't so hot.
