If you've read my posts you know I'm having a heck of a time getting ressies for 12/6 at ASMo, POR or CS. Nobody seems to have them (cked travelocity, expedia and orbitz). I have rooms 12/5 at either ASMo or POR- will have to choose and 12/7-10 at CS.

Waiting for a cancellation but then code BBN won't be valid- have to book by 10/28.

For backup I made ressies at the Grosvenor using special wdwinfo. rate but I am really concerned about the transportation esp. since we want to have dinner at Beaches and Cream and AKL. Getting back from those places will probably be tricky.

Will, of course, keep calling WDW re 12/6, but can anyone say anything about the Grosvenor, itself, and about the Downtyown Disney Resort Transportation.

Just take the WDW transportation to Downtown Disney and you can walk from there back to the Grosvenor.
We stayed there about five years ago. The hotel is nothing special, but it's OK. The transportation ran on time.

Don't want to depress you, but the Grovesnor is not one of the nicest hotels around.

It is old and has that "old hotel, moldy smell" when you walk in.

But hey, if the rate is cheap enough, and you aren't able to get the hotel you want, it's better than NOT coming down!

Good luck with your reservations!

1. you're going to Disney World!!
2. it's walking distance to Downtown Disney and all the transportation to other resorts available from there
3. just think of getting back to your room from a late night at DD - you won't have to wait for a crowded bus (and they always are crowded)
4. when I stayed there a live calypso band played in the pool area in the afternoon - very cool
5. the morning buffet was a good deal if I remember correctly and the waiter offered us fruit for later
6. it is kind of ordinary but if the price is good who cares and I had a Disney magical wonderful trip anyway
7. you're going to Disney World!!!!!

I had to stay there a few years back for a seminar, the overall feeling I got was it was a dump. We stayed in a garden wing room, it smelled moldy. Since it appears you are not getting a car (?), and it is only for one night, it would probably be ok, but don't expect a lot, then you won't be dissapointed. It is not too bad of a walk from the DTD bus stop over to the very close off site properties, so you do have the ability to eat where you want and take the Disney bus back. Is your plan really to stay at AS on 12/5, then Grosvenor for 12/6, then CS for 12/7-10? THat's a lot of moving around with out a car??? Still you do get to go, that to me is the HUGE benefit.

Have a great trip.

My very first trip to WDW I stayed at the Grovesner and had a splendid time! It was my birthday, too!

You're stumbling distance from Pleasure Island and just a stone's throw away from Downtown Disney. You'll get all the transportation you need and you'll be the smart one by knowing that you stayed at a mid-range priced property for the much cheaper rate.

Enjoy.

And hey, you're going to Disney!

Just keep calling first thing in the morning and asking for cancellations. People cancel all the time and eventually, you'll be able to get what you need. I'd say book your room for the 5th now, and then just continue calling for your night that you're missing. Be persistent. It's likely that it will pay off. If you don't get the discount for the one night, it's not the end of the world and will still probably be worth it to stay on property.

One big plus about continuing to try is that WDW will move your luggage for you between resorts. I've had split reservations before at the same hotel and when it came time to actually check-in, they found a way to make it work so that we didn't have to change rooms. So - if you end up with 3 reservations at 2 WDW hotels, you'll still be fine.

Keep on trying!
