Will I be allowed to eat seafood and nuts?

For my Sister, she has allergies to lots of food and has to watch what she eats. It worked out great for us, a table of 11. We loved it when she pre ordered because we could see what was being served the next night ;). But they always had my sister's stuff setting off to one side just for her and a seat or two away was stuff for the rest of us.

I think from the sounds of it, it will all depend on your servers. Most tend to be good
 
Is an allergy request shown anywhere on your paperwork/reservations for the cruise? I had wanted our travel agent to mention my husband's cheese allergy, but now I think I want it disregarded. He knows how much or what he can or cannot eat and like a previous poster, it's not life threatening. And no, it's not lactose intolerance....I want to make sure the servers don't wig out and deny him something per THEIR judgement. I don't see it mentioned anywhere (I do see our birthday requests)....should I still call and have it removed? Thanks

It is usually in an internal system we can't see. You can call and have it removed. You can also just be very firm.

On the same subject my friend recently went to WDW and noted his egg allergy. He was so upset and kind of pissed at dessert time that they wouldn't let him order cake. No matter how many times he told them he knows there is egg in it and that the baking process destroys the egg protein he is allergic to they only would let him have fruit. It is so irritating that if we say we can eat something they won't let you. He knows what the limits are for his allergy so he should be allowed to order what he wants with in that. I don't think many servers understand some allergies aren't as severe or can manifest in different ways so they are overly cautious.
 
that makes me remember the person posting a long time ago who wanted her allergic child to experience communal dining, so she wanted the family to be seated with other parties, but she wanted to stipulate that the other parties would not be able to order anything containing whatever it was the child was allergic to because she didn't want it at the table. She got upset when other posters said they'd ask for a different table assignment.

In this case, if you make it clear that your husband and kid just can't ingest these items and have no issues being around them, you should have no problems with what you want to order.

Imagine the liability if someone who was deathly allergic to something noted it and asked for it not to be served to him, and then Disney allowed him to request it and eat it anyway. That's what it is all about.

That's what we keep being told but I don't see the liability in them if they say over and over that it is will not create a reaction. I just hosted him at my place for a week and everywhere we went even with it noted they let us order dessert after explaining that it is okay if it is in baked goods or if it has been mixed with yeast. I'm not sure what he put in his notes but if I go with him we will either note that specifically or stop by DtD to pick up some snacks for him at the bakery there.

I am allergic to gluten and I was able to order it (like a roux in soup) multiple times. I am also allergic to tree nuts and they let me order those as well.I just took them off the dish. The system never caught the allergy issues there. Both allergies were noted on my reservation. We ALSO had serious allergy issues for our egg allergic daughter where we had to send back meals a few times because they sent her food (even at the club!) with allergens on them. After reading this thread, I am starting to think that the chef did not take allergies too seriously. There were 2 other families on our cruise that ended up in medical due to anaphylaxis from cross contamination that cruise.

I completely see the liability. The host or hostess is provided dietary limitations due to allergies and they are required to stick to that. Along comes the diner who says, "No, it's ok." Instant liability if the host or hostess provides the item in question. If one doesn't want to be treated as if they have a dietary allergy, then please have it removed from the cruise paperwork/reservations. I understand what you're saying when you friend said that it was ok, but a defense of, "He said it was ok" is not something I would want to mess with when it comes to documented food allergies.

I agree....that's why I won't even add it...except of course for my daughter. I like her more :love2:.....J/K
 
This seems like one of those situations, like the kids' club ages, where Disney actually cannot win. Too many people want things both ways.

Yea, Cruise CMs get kinda put in a hard place when they're told, "No, I can't have this" and then are told "Yea, I can have that."
 
It depends what you told them. My younger cousin can not be any where around peanut butter. Evewn the smell can affect him. In his case the do not serve any nut related items at his table. On another note his siter has allergies to melon but only if she eats it. So there is no problem for ordering anything with melon at her table.
 
I don't add my allergy either because mine isn't life threatening and I know not to order any mango.
