add another night onto my Swan reservation for a discount rate? Last week I booked a govt. rate at the Swan for next December. I only booked 4 nights but we have decided that we would like to stay through to January 1. The govt. rate is no longer available on the website for those dates and when I called the Swan they quoted me $305.00 for the additional night.

Am I crazy to hope that I might eventually be able to add that last night on for a discount rate? I would switch my reservation to DreamsUnlimited if I knew they could help with the last night but I can't book past August with them. Any suggestions? I want to book my airfare early so I need to decide if I should plan on staying the extra night and then hope for a good rate for that last night.

I inquired about adding a room-only res using the cth code to my already existing Visa Kids play free deal, and they said no problem. I decided it was too expensive, but the CM was great in trying to figure it all out for me before I decided. I can't imagine they wouldn't rather have you get a discounted room than no room at all! ;)
Call and ask, what's to lose?

Whether or not you'll be able to add another discounted night to your ressie will depend on what conventions are in town during your stay (they typically hold blocks of rooms for conventions). I believe the reservation agent at Swan/dolphin told me they update their computer system every Friday and sometimes they will release additional discounts based on their occupancy rate.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

You're trying to add on New Year's Eve? It's possible there aren't discounts available --- perhaps there's been a lot of rooms booked already. I've definitely seen times when DU has had the nurses/govt/teachers discount available when the Starwoods website hasn't ............ but, New Year's Eve? I don't know how anyone can predict what DU can or can't do for you. Did you think about contacting them to ask a general question about the past history of discounted rooms for 12/31? They may be able to give you a general idea and you can decide whether to gamble or not.
