There are 4 of us- DH, me, DD11, and DD2. We will have an umbrella stroller and 2 large pullmans (Mine is slighly larger than the other), 2 Xtra large rolling duffels (about the same size as the large pullmans), one pretty large duffel to carry on, probably an additional large duffel to check with snacks, a backpack, and DH's camerabag. I may or may not pack a separate diaperbag. So, that's 4 large bags, 2 medium/large, and at least 2 small/mediums. We are going to try to get an Impala. How much will fit in the trunk, and how many will DD11 have to "wear" in the back seat?
Thanks!

I don't know if you have time, but I might suggest going past a car dealer if it's close by...but I think it will be tight...sorry I can't be more helpful...we take a towncar...wishing that someone knows the answer for you.

Not sure how large the trunk is in an impala - I know I once stopped by a dealership to check out trunk size, but then the retnal place had slightly different cars than were stated.

I think you will fit into a full size, but DD may have to wear a peice or two.
We travel as 3 adults (2 rather large) and DD (9). OUr last trip we had a extra large pullman - 3 "regular" size (could have qualified for carry on), a regular size duffel , and two backpacks. Then on the way to the resorts we stopped at the grocery store and got a case a beer and 5-6 bags of groceries. We wore alot, but but were able to fit them into a small full size

Here's what we got in the back of the impala we rented. 1 double stroller (tandem kind), 1 extra large suitcase, 1 small suitcase, 2 large duffels and backpack. It all fit in the trunk.

Now on our way back to the airport we had 2 extra duffels and some other bags. That was a tight squeeze. We had to squeeze some things into the back seat.

BTW, we had 3kids 15, 4 & 18months. I think you should be able to fit everything.

good luck

It doesnt have a trunk........It has a cave!! LOL

We found one on Emerald Isle (National) and glad we did! There is no way we could have fit the following into anything smaller:

Single Jogger Stroller in the box
5 22" wheeled suitcases
2 large carryon Carpet bags
Plus we stopped and bought groceries LOL!

There was Myself, Dh and 2 Ds's.

The stroller box was pretty big. Plus it was very good on gas. We used one tank for 10 days and that included 3 trips to US/IOA and the Florida Mall.

The back seat could comfortably seat 4 children or 3 adults, so even with a car seat, if you had to put luggage in the back there would be plenty of room. The Impala also has rear split folding seats.

Can you tell I didnt want to give it back? And I drive a Toyota minivan at home!

Well, depending on how full the duffles are and how creative you are at packing. You might be able to fit it all. DH drives an Impala and I am trying to picture how the 2 large suitcases and 2 duffles will fit in the trunk with the rest. Maybe the smaller stuff could go on the floor by younger DD's feet.

One thing the Impala's do have going for them are that there are no bars that come down in the trunk to take up precious packing space. If you get to the rental place and have to choose between Impala and another type car, this might be a concern with the other car.
