Will free dining entice you back onsite?

We did the free dining last year with wonderful results -- Teppanyaki and Cali Grill to celebrate DH's birthday. However this year, I'm sticking to mid October for F & W and MNSSHP. For us, it's only a long weekend.

Absolutely, IF the dates matched my existing plans. We are bound by the school calendar (teachers) and have to fly to Florida (NV), so a unplanned quick weekender can't happen for us.

We tried the dining plan last summer, and while I'm not sure if we'd pay for it again, for free I'd be on it like white on rice! Pardon the pun!!!

...and don't want to start an "Onsite vs. Offsite" debate :teeth:

We've always enjoyed vacations that combined both on and off...and gotta say, free dining is gonna make me crunch some numbers! :teacher:

I crunched. I had already booked ADRs, and we already had $300.00 in dinners booked. We have old parkhoppers we can use, but DD needed one (she'll be three). Those costs, plus the cost of the car and the hotel brought us to $984.21. If we stay on-site, we''ll only spend $630.43 and get dining included in that. Seemed like a no-brainer to us...although we are staying at the ASMo in a standard room and I was really looking forward to the Doubletree Suites.

Sometimes those Values are just worth it. No Pop available?

I'm sure it probably is!! DD is on a Toy Story kick, so we're hoping to stay in that bldg.

I ran the numbers too....

however - CWR will accept pets - Disney won't....

and besides I just brought the DDE for that trip and I will use it!!!!

of course this means a ton more people for Sept than we planning on having....

We crunched the numbers for our family of 5 (3 hungry teens, 2 like their food familiar).

Onsite, we'd get a week in 2 value hotel rooms, 2 baths, 2 TVs, 2 restaurant meals/1 snack daily, 2 days of (longer) MYW tix, free parking, go offsite for most of our days (other parks & water parks), pay for a lot of additional food at restaurant prices.

Offsite, we'd get a week in a deluxe 2BR timeshare resort condo w/2 baths, jacuzzi & a full kitchen/laundry, 3 TVs, 1 restaurant meal daily, 2 days of (longer) MYW tix, pay for parking, stay offsite for most of our days, stock up on a lot of additional food at grocery store prices.

End result? They'd cost the same for us! So...

Our family prefers to eat restaurant food once a day, not more. We prefer the comforts of a spacious condo w/ room for all the teenagers to spread out. Our teens prefer the laid-back, fun, resort atmosphere of nicer timeshare resorts to the bustle at Disney value hotels and even the moderates, if we were to pay more for them.

As a family, no, we're not enticed.

Now... perhaps... if it were just DH and me... that'd be another story...

We'd basically only eat what's on the dining plan anyway and we'd enjoy trying some of the priciest restaurants that we haven't, so far. I'd miss the jacuzzi and the living room space but we'd do it for the dining. :)

If I could get the time off during that timeframe, I'd be down there in a heartbeat, and staying onsite! I'm looking at next year spring break, and have been going back and forth about what I want to do. I love staying onsite, love the experience. Also, if we stay onsite, won't have the added cost of paying for a car. Finally, and this was a big one for us, we like the character dining, and while my kids don't eat a ton, they all like different things and the two older ones seem to have adult type palates, so even for the children, its a great deal for us.
When crunching the numbers before, it was only slightly cheaper to stay offsite, paying for the rental, etc. With free dining, I'd be doing the Disney!

I'm seriously contemplating taking similar time off next year for this timeframe so we can take advantage of it if it comes!!!

:surfweb: were still staying off site and are a little bummed that there will be more crowds than our last visit.
