Will free dining entice you back onsite?

First, I want to thank my co-mod for the head's up-- I was in the dark on this one :teeth: . (I guess I have been too busy).

However, this is exactly the plan dh and I had been waiting for to see if we'd make a trip in the fall of this year (well I guess by 9/30), over the Christmas holidays, or in Jan/Feb of 2007.

I really do think the free dining might cinch the deal for our trip, and it would bring us to stay onsite too. Which at that time of year we'd most likely stay offsite to take advantage of the savings since the crowds are lower.

So, now I'm off to wake up dh, and yep--- you can picture me jumping up and down on the bed like a giddy little kid on Christmas..... :Pinkbounc .

For trips with just me and DH, we are most definitely enticed to stay onsite to get the dining package. DH goes to WDW for one reason - all those great restaurants in one area. The dining plan is perfect for us and we love it. However, when I take my grandkids, then it's not such a good deal. They are very picky eaters and are not at all adventuresome with food. And they are too young to care about the ambience. My trips with the kids are also shorter (5 days vs. 12-14 w/DH) and I don't like to take away from park time to eat at a sit down restaurant every day. It's cheaper and easier for us to eat counter service meals on the run.

Merry Christmas!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I agree, ncbyrne...we've always traveled with extended family, so it just makes sense for us to do larger accomodations (and then when the majority of them leave, we take the grandparents, and our two kids, and stay onsite)

Thing is, mom and dad aren't "foodies", like DH and I are - and you and your DH;)...they prefer having our own kitchen to make their own meals...

So a trip in August for just the four of us would definitely mean onsite and dining...but then the Christmas plans would have to be re-examined...

*sigh*
Too much fun to plan! Thanks goodness for the Boards!~! LOL!

we have reservations for June at Royal Pacific, now we are thinking about changing them to August and taking a side trip to disney to take advantage of free dining.

I said we would only go back this Fall if they ran the deal again...

Did my ressies this morning...

Do you mind if I ask where you're staying, what kind of tix you bought - and the big question;);) - how much you're paying?

Is there a limit of only 10 nights for the dining packages? Or could we extend to 13/14 nights??

Because now we're thinking the 10 nights at WDW, and a few at US/IOA....but I'd rather just stay at WDW, and not have to move...

TIA!
:sunny:

mbb, I believe there is a limit of l0 days on the package. You could do two 7 day packages instead.

herc.

If I were able to get free dining I would DEFINITELY stay on site.
The price of eating in WDW all the time (we will not have a car) is what swayed me into staying off-site though.
I love off-site though :cool1:

Aren't the dates really limited though? No, I wasn't planning to go in August or September (if that's the right dates) and free dining wouldn't make me want to.

It would entice me to stay onsite if it were offered at a better time of year for us.

Thanks herc:)

Just in case anyone from Disney is reading this :surfweb: ...how about a free dining package for AP holders/onsite for 10 days or more - at Christmas???

:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

*Then* all in my planning world would be perfect;);)
...because right now, it's plunged into giddy chaos of "we could try this restaurant, and this one, and this...", and then DH says, "but what about our surprise-for-the-kids- Christmas trip??"

I need help.

Even with free dining, nothing can entice me to go to Florida in August or Early September. It's blazing hot and wet. My hubby lived in Orlando and when I mentioned taking a short trip in August w/ the free dining, he said that only if Disney offered him a refridgrated suit to wear! That's the time of year that as soon as you walk out your hotel room, you are drenched in sweat. No thank you.

Pop Century.
5 nights 6 days, two adults, two kids, total price: $1221.58

To know that I don't have to drag along anything other than some water bottles and breakfast bars... worth EVERY penney.

HTH!

:D

We want last Sept. and had the free dinning plan. We had already plan to go to disney at this time, but the free dinning was a plus in me booking my dates.
If I could swing it I would go again. DREAMING

I must admit I was there from Aug 19th - Sep 9th and Sep was not too clammy at all.

As single Mum and 2 kids,I never seem to benefit from anything like this - as its always based on two adults sharing.

It always sounds so complicated though,to figure out these deals!!!

Yes,Im sure it would be a nice addition to some families,

Lynn

I didn't see anything about Fort Wilderness being included. Is it?

If anything, I'm thinking of changing our September vacation due to this. We enjoy WDW in September as Floridians because it's usually very slow. APHs are not included in this deal, and staying at a sold out value WDW hotel is not my idea of fun at all -- been there, done that. Never again.

Looks like we'll be staying off site and eating our nice dinners at CityWalk where APHs are included in discounted dining.

Personally, I would stay the 10 nights at WDW, then move to a UO resort for 4 nights. IMHO, the Universal Hotel perks are definitely worth the move. Free dining at one of the parks, then incredible on-site perks at the other... Sounds like a perfect trip to me. :thumbsup2

Exactly what we're thinking too;);) Love it when great Dis Minds think alike:teeth:

I totally agree with Lynn. We were there last September 23rd - 30th and found the weather was much less humid and hot than the trip we just got back from.
