will free dining come out for gp?

I am sincerely happy for you [I'm not even interested in that timeframe] . . but I don't know if it was very wise to post this. It will only cause some people to be extremely upset that they were not able to get the offer . . . but you did - just because you really, really love Disney. :confused3

I agree with you. That's just great for rlduvall; I've been calling too about a free dining code. Guess what? My kids really, really love Disney. My love, however, is waning...

Keep in mind that this year the Disney VISA holders did NOT get a special rate when they came out in August....and there was much bellyaching by them about how they were passed over and most had been holders since the beginning, and blah blah blah. Well, of course, NOW we know why they were passed over, but there was a LOT of griping back then, and now they're rejoicing.

Like most discounts throughout the world.....the best are given to "members".....grocery stores give discounts if you have their membership card.....gas stations give a few cents off if you use their credit card.....even the local city recreation department gives a discount on it's ballet/soccer/swimming lessons if you live in that city. So why shouldn't Disney give special discounts to those who are Annual Passholders, or Disney VISA holders, or DVC members??? Is it really that different from the other examples I cited.......actually it is, because most of those other discounts are FREE....grocers don't charge for their cards, the gas station credit card doesn't have an annual fee (neither does the Disney VISA), and maybe living in that particular city isn't fee, but you didn't move there just for the discount did you? But we're talking about Disney were very little is free.

So those that want to maximize their potential discount power should perhaps consider joining the "membership" of Disney.....get an AP, get a Disney VISA (it's free to apply, no annual fees, you simply have to use it once a year to not have it cancelled (so buy lunch and pay it in full once a year)), and join DVC if you can afford that one!

Another perk of the Disney VISA is a special members only meet at greet at Epcot....and I can't tell you how often people complain about that, when frankly, there is a better variety of characters just waiting in the next building to the south. But it's something that they can't have so they complain. If it's that important get the card.

Just like people ordering Disney vacation planning DVDs think they're upping their chance of a PIN code when they probably know more about planning that the DVD ever did, lol. Maximum your exposure to Disney and hope that you are rewarded for that membership. I swear I'm on every mailing list for any Disney product/website out there....I have a shelf of those planning videos going back a decade I'm sure, and yet I've never gotten a post card or email with a special number just for me. Yeah, it bugs me, but it doesn't seem to slow me down, I'll order another planning DVD and sign up for another email list, and hope next year it works!

Is it fair...no, but neither is the fact that I can't join the Club 33 at Disneyland....and I've wanted to eat there my entire life since I first discovered it's existance in the 1970's! I'd gladly take out a second mortgage.......ok, DH may divorce me if I did, and I would miss him, but...it's Club 33!

And hey, how about all those discounts you get because you work for this or that company, but I can't get even though I am a loyal money-spending customer....hey how is that fair. I stood behind an employee at a retail store and watched her get 30% off several of the items that were in my basket....did I even get a thank you for paying more? Nope.

So...have you applied for your free Disney VISA card yet??? :rotfl2:

Just to clarify, it wasn't me [rlduvall] that got that deal, it was stazmatic. :hippie:

I think the real frustration isn't that Visa holders are getting free dining, but that only CERTAIN people are receiving pin codes for free dining. Personally, I completely understand why Visa holders get the special discount. I just wish Disney wasn't selective in who they deem worthy of discounts with pin codes. Based on location, whether a guest has visited before, etc. all make sense to me from a marketing standpoint. But their "random" way of blessing some with great discounts/free dining and excluding others, based on no particular requirements, really bites!

Sorry rlduvall! I knew it was way too early in the day for me to be posting!

Can you feel the love????

First, please let me clarify. My post was not to rub it in that I got what I wanted. I apologize if it came across that way.

I have been reading these boards and gathering little bits of information to try to help me when I talk to a CM. I think it's pretty clear that the people that post on these boards know more then at least half of the CM's taking reservations. Agreed?

My points were simple:
1. They may still be releasing pin codes and it is worth calling in to check every so often to see if there is anything under your name.
2. Availability changes on a dime. Last week there was no availability at POP, yesterday there was.
3. It all depends on who you talk to.
4. I read something interesting on another board that I forgot to write initially. Along with keeping records of how many times you call, there are multiple records for each person. In each record there may or may not be a pin code. A CM could choose to look at only one record, or all of them. Which would explain how it was there one day and not before.
5. I DIDN'T DO THIS! My sister-in-law did.
6. I stated very clearly that my husband and I both applied for the VISA and did not get instantly approved. I could go into my sob stories about my credit, but I'll save it so I don't get harrassed further.
7. My beef was never with Disney Visa. When I received a pin code back in August it went GP shortly thereafter. According to the supervisor yesterday free dining will not be going GP. She may or may not know what she is talking about. I don't have a problem with the pin codes either, but at some point it should be released to everyone. When you go to the grocery store and have a membership card to get a sale - the membership card is FREE! Anyone can apply and get approved! You do not need good credit, or an annual income of a certain amount. There is no sales only for certain people on certain days of the month. To even compare those programs to Disney offers is insane.

So again, I apologize to those whom I offended. For everyone else, please take my original post for what it was - little tidbits of information to help you when you call a CM to get what you want.

Ahhhh, but this has been the way of The World for years now. Loyal fans who are on every mailing list known to Disney, and those who have visited yearly, even monthly do not receive a precious PIN code....but the idiot down the street who can't even spell WDW and has never been there gets one every year. Or the family that just returned from 2 weeks there gets a PIN code, can't use it, but that's ok because next month there will be another.

There is no rhyme or reason to it that anyone has been able to determine....loyalty doesn't work for or against you (there is the ever popular "You're already an AP or DVC holder they know they got you"), signing up for everything under the sun doesn't work either. And it's not unusual for an ex boyfriend's PIN code postcard to appear years after he's left, and with the knowledge that SHE made the reservations and was the "lead" on their last trip's ressie...so why is HIS name on it. And of course with HIS name on it, you can't always use it (that's the other frustrating part....some CMs will let you use it if you still live at the address on the card, some say only HE can book it and he has to show up).

Of course, if Disney were to get their act together about consistency in sharing the love....and in the CMs all being on the same page about it.....well, then what we would have left to discuss on DIS. It would become a forum with 3 posts a day......

Can I reuse my mug from 7 years ago?

Can I use my brother's girl friends' sisters, best friends aunt's ticket, because it's got 2 days left and she doesn't want it?

I just made 4 ADRs for dinner on Tuesday so now I can decide where I want to go that night.

:lmao: Thanks for the laugh, I needed it today (in case you couldn't tell from my post :flower3: ).

Disney is truly becoming a love-hate relationship these days!! :rolleyes1

I called to make a final payment today and the Disney agent said something along the lines that I should call back tomorrow - that I'd be happy if I did.

Do you suppose that she could've been hinting at free dining for the general public?

Is anyone else about to pee their pants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared1:

OMG! YES!!!!!!!

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a little love left for GP for FD??? :goodvibes

Between this and the job interview I have tomorrow I'll never sleep tonight. :surfweb:

blush.gif

think I just did.

Now you have me worrying that I've raised false hope. Please don't pee on my account. But I too am hoping!

I applied for the Disney Visa (for the discounts) and was rejected because my Credit was too good, because I pay all my bills on time with no debt thus according to the reporting agency they use - no credit history so to them I am a bad risk.

I checked Disney's Website this morning and they are updating their Reservation site, say's it will be down until 10 AM. I would like FD, but with savings from the discount's I got in the Aug GP release, It paid for my Dining and a few other aspects of my trip.

Well, currently there is no announcement on mousesavers or here, and the website is working for ressies not showing any new offers. So as of now it looks like no offer for GP Free DDP. This is 6:35 EST here.

just got off the phone and it seems like no new general public code today!
i spoke with casper at grand gatherings and he said nothing new added today....so dissappointed I am.:sad1:

I thought for sure if there was anything for the public, it would've been announced this morning.

Afterall, the President of the United States just went on national television last night to talk about the economic crisis in this country...

I had hoped that would push Disney to attempt to bribe the public to come spend their money anyway.

Oh well, I girl can dream....:rolleyes1

There is a new special codes on the Disney Reservation website under special offers for Values,Moderates & Deluxes for travel between 10/19 - 12/23. But it DOES NOT include Free Dining, plus it is outside my dates. :sad2:

Code: NYB

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/tickets/packageListing?id=SpecialOfferListingPage

This appears to be a "room only" code, and good luck with availability! I tried for our dates (Nov. 9-15) and the best I could find was CR for over $6,800!?!?!?! No thanks, I'll keep my Poly rack rate, thank you very much! :rolleyes1
