Will Flip Flops be sufficient?

Hi DISer friends,
I was planning on it being chilly Dec. 4th-8th (as it was last year) and assumed I'd be in shoes, jeans, and sweaters. Weather.com shows 80s!!! and now I am totally rethinking my wardrobe. I wanna wear capri pants but don't care for the gym shoe look with 'em (gotta look good for the photos!) and I'm wondering if flip flops are gonna give me problems. I don't have really sturdy flip flops, but they are very cute.

What do you all wear when in Disney and at the parks for long days? :earboy2:

I think it depends on the person- whenever I wear sneakers they rub on my heels and give me blisters. I also don't like wearing sneakers when my feet might get wet. I have a pair of flip flops that are really comfy. But, bring a pair of sneakers just in case. -Steph

It really depends on what you're used to. I'm a flip-flop wearer and I was so much more comfortable wearing them. When I used sneakers I ended up with really tired feet and I had chafing on my heels. After 2 days of sneakers, I finally broke down and wore flip-flops for the next 7 days. They were the thin kind too, not my regular flip-flops that are thicker soled.

So it really depends on you. Can you walk 8 hour days with flip-flop?

I wear flipflops all day at home in warm weather BUT I am on my feet a lot longer at WDW. I need the extra shock absorption of a sneaker. Also, I don't like the idea of any sandals in the parks: too many strollers, and too many rides to board. Covered toes are the way to go.

Hmm...I really don't know. I think I will bring my flip flops and gym shoes too and maybe that first day i arrive, it'll be like 3pm so i can "practice" in my flip flops. Haha...i sound like a 7 y/o, but it's cool. Thanks for the responses!

I wouldn't recommend it. I mean, maybe you're young enough that repetative impact on your feet for 8-10 hours a day won't make a difference, but I'd suggest you be kinder to your feet.

One good blister can put a real damper on the rest of your vacation if you get it on the first day.

I'd suggest "re-thinking" your footwear is a good idea here.

The bottoms of your feet are going to hurt if you walk that much in flip flops. I would wear very comfortable sneakers. How about a cute pair of sneaks with the low socks. That is what I did and I was very thankful. Flip flops don't take up much room so I would bring them and maybe wear them at night if you have time to change in between.

Well, you might get a spot on www.badshoe.com I wouldn't. Disney is a lot of concerete and walking. If they aren't study they could just come apart on you!

I wore my Speedo flip flops to MGM and I was OK in them all day (from open to close). I wonder if the brand and the way the material is made or made out of (the part between the big toe and the 2nd toe) is the problem with flip flops. I think you should be able to judge the best if you can handle about 8 miles in flip flops all day long.

Oh my gosh! badshoe.com? I thought it was a joke. That website is hilarious. I think I will just bring several options for shoes. Like I can wear my gym shoes and keep my flip flops in my purse and if I wanna swtich to flip flops, I can carry my shoes in one of Disney's lovely plastic bags. :flower:

I wore my sneakers for about 90% of my trip..that is until I got HUGE blisters on my toes and heel...that even moleskin wasn't helping. So I wore flip flops my last two days and I must admit they were the most comfortable days of our whole trip. I reccommend the flips.

Have a great trip!!

I find my flip flops more comfortable than my tennish shoes. I have several pairs and when I wear the flip flops my legs don't get as tired.

On my recent trip, I travelled with 4 pair of shoes / sandals. I had a pair of "slides" a pair of "Teva" type sandals, a pair of tennis shoes and a pair of Steve Madden dress shoes. I spend most of my time in my Teva type sandals and they were very comfy. Oddly enough, my feet are happiest in Steve Madden's. My feet can be sore as heck and as soon as they slip into Steve Madden's, they're happy.

Looking good and Disney don't necessarily mix. Your first priority should be comfort. Those cute shoes don't look as good when you're limping into first aid with blisters-I asked once, blisters are the most common problem reported at fir aid. I wear sandals-decent sport type sandals, for me these are more comfortable then sneakers. One of the best things you can do to insure a good Disney vacation is wear comfortable, well broken-in shoes. If there cute too, great. If not, well your feet won't show in most pictures:)

FYI... did Keys to the Kingdom a few weeks ago (walked five hours) in a pair of flip flops. My feet felt fine but I guess it all depends on what you can handle. Funny story ... Observed a woman exiting the monorail and as she stepped off her flip flop came off and fell down into that tiny space where the monorail meets the landing. It was sad and hilarious all at the same time. Good thing they sell $14 flip flops in the parks. LOL!

im planning on wearing flip flops, but at blizzard beach do they let you hold your flip flops in your hand when you go down the body slides?
