No, it's not automatic, you can designate who has charging privileges and who does not. Those that you designate can charge will be able to select a pin number to validate themselves at checkout locations (at least that is how it use to be pre-covid-19
You can go to the Front Desk at check in and have separate CC assigned to each person’s MB. Check your accounts the next day (after charging to both accounts) to confirm it’s working as desired.

This!! My sister went to the Front Desk to put her own CC on her MB. I believe this can also be set up on MDE as long as each person has an MDE account. If not, you'd have to do it at the desk. You can check your portfolio of charges on the MDE app to see the charges immediately. For example, my charges portfolio from that trip had my charges and my dad's charges for my CC, whereas she received her own portfolio for her own CC charges.
Just a reminder, Disney is strongly encouraging folks to try to resolve anything they can via MDE app "text message" style communications with the hotel staff instead of a walkup to the front desk. I would try that first before going in person. I have activated my husband's MB for charging privileges without him being physically present, so it can be done.
Everyone on the room reservation will automatically have charging privileges using their MagicBand if you have a credit card on file. You don't need to request that. But each person needs to know the PIN code in order to charge to the room. If you want everyone to have charging privileges, then you need to tell them the PIN code.
It’s when you do online check-in. You enter a credit card number, which can be the same as or different from the one that you used to pay for the room, and you choose a PIN and enter it for each individual who should have charging privileges to that credit card number. You do not have to enter a PIN for every individual, and you do not have to enter different PINs for each individual, they can all be the same. Also, obviously, if you don’t tell someone what the PIN is, they cannot charge to that resort account, even if there is a PIN by their name in MDE.

Check them every day. I say this from direct experience. On trip with my sister. Day 1, my MB charges went to my cc and hers went to her cc. Day 2 onward, all the charges went to her cc. I didn't realize this until the end of the trip. But, you know, it's my sister, so we easily worked it out. Now I use my cc instead of my MB when I charge things.
