What WDW resorts got hit with an uptick in dues with hurricane season last year? It was SSR and another one, right? Wonder if Dorian will bring the same?

I've never heard of dues being raised because of hurricanes. My friend who is a DVC owner ar SSR never mentioned that before.

Special assessments at the beach resorts. But the SSR increases weren't hurricane-related. Like everywhere else at WDW, they were wage related above all else. Saratoga is also hitting a certain age, which means more maintenance.

I no longer own, but when I owned VB two hurricanes hit the resort almost directly. The VB resort was closed for repairs for about a month each time. (2004??)

NEITHER of those times did we get hit with a special assessment.

Not sure if things have changed since we sold.

I've read of one, maybe two resorts that ever had extra expenses due to hurrican damage at WDW. DVC news did report that SSR had expenses in 2017 due to Irma, mostly at the THV, and an assessment was done in the 2018 dues. It was for $200k so less then 1.5 cents per point.

I think one time BWV may have had some too but that was years ago if I'm even remembering correctly.

Ya, I knew HH and Vero did had the uptick in dues. I thought SSR had one, but I guess it was the only one at WDW that got effected. Hopefully none of these will get hit again, but those beach resorts, I don't know.

Doesn't the insurance, that is already included in our dues, cover the damage? Don't our dues already reflect high insurance rates based on the risks of being in a hurricane zone?

There's an insurance deductible just like your home or auto policy. The article DebbieB posted a few posts up mentions it. HHI owners had to cover 750K in insurance deductibles. VB 100K, SSR was damaged to the tune of 200K which probably didn't meet the insurance deductible for that property.

We're talking like 3 to 11 cents a point. SSR was like 1.5 cents a point

Yes, but just like the rest of us there are deductibles, things that are covered and things that are not. Some things that are partially paid for and of course the higher premiums after making a claim

I work for a major insurance company in Business Insurance. Those high wind deductibles are common in coastal areas.
