Will DL Fireworks Disappear for a While?

I'd like to think they would continue to offer them every night as a give back for not having Fantasmic available at all.

But sometimes I expect too much. Right now I'd be happy with just some weekend nights when we go.

I don't think they can! They have all sorts of deals with the city due to houses being so close to the park. The got special permission for the 60th celebration, so i'm pretty sure they will go back to their regular schedule once that ends.

Does the same go for WOC over at DCA? Does it go from every night to weekends?

Thanks,

John

You know, I am not sure! Sorry! I'm sure someone here will know though! I wanna say WOC runs every night since it's the only nighttime show in DCA but I don't know for sure.

Is it bad that I actually hope they do stop running fireworks for a while? Maybe that would reduce the number of guests as more people would be likely to wait until the fireworks are back. I could finally walk at night in the parks again without major anxiety attacks over the crowds. Don't get me wrong. I love the fireworks and part of me will miss them. But, there's always a silver lining. If you want great fireworks, there's always WDW for those traveling from out of state anyway.

I'm with you on this one! I miss the days of being able to get around at night and enjoy the park atmosphere! Our last few trips we high tail it out of there right after the parade because we just can't take the crowds anymore!

Ugh - so this means there will be even longer than 3 hour waits for the fireworks come the end of August beginning of September??? Gosh I hope this rumor isn't true. I will be making my once in a lifetime trip to DL and I can't imagine not seeing the fireworks over the castle. But I also can't imagine giving up 4 or 5 hours of my once in a lifetime trip either. :( :( :( Any guesses when they would decide to officially announce this?

That might be a nice alternative for someone who gets to the park more frequently and has seen them many times. But for those of us who get there once a year it's still pretty important. At least for me.

And, as much as I miss F!, it sure is nice walking around NOS at night now!

I don't even care which show. I just want fireworks over a castle. Especially since there's no Fantasmic.

Same. We are heading back in March 2017 and we were looking forward to seeing the fireworks over the castle. On our visit last year, we missed out on the fire works over the castle, as it was closed/covered for the 60th decorations.

We got to see the "fill in fireworks", but they were not the castle ones, that we had heard so much about.

Can't believe we may miss out on the fireworks over the castle AGAIN!!! I can sure pick em....lol

I would be devastated if that happened. We're coming from Australia in November for only our second visit. I was disappointed enough about Fantasmic, but no fireworks would put a very big downer on the trip. Airfares and park hoppers are already paid for so I can't even change my plans without a big financial loss.

I really hope for your sake that this rumor is unfounded. I totally get how you feel.

Our airfare is on Southwest so can still be changed. I'm holding off buying park tickets until I hear more about this.

I really hope it's unfounded for your sake as well. :)

JessL, you are in good company. With all the cuts and closures, I am disappointed as well. And like you, we have our flights, tickets, and hotel...its one of the problems of living in Aus.

I am so sad to hear about all the people taking their once in a lifetime trips during the time that the fireworks may be cancelled!! :worried:

What I have heard is that this cancellation is for one specific reason: to move the launch location!!

You know how they have to close toontown every night for the fireworks launch? Well Star Wars Land is behind the existing park in that same kind of area, only more to the North West side of the park and next to toon town. They cannot afford to close Star Wars Land every night so they must move the launch location. It really is sad, but it also must happen. I sure hope that it doesn't take 6 months as they are predicting!! Good luck to everyone with trips during this time. :cutie:

This is me exactly. :-( I hope they delay stopping the fireworks til Fantasmic returns. No Fantasmic, no railroad, no Tom Sawyer island and now no Fireworks - I'm starting to regret booking our holiday. My DH wanted to wait til next year - looks like he might have been right.

After Fall visits the last 3 years, work commitments mean we couldn't come back this year. Right now, I would gladly take DL with all the closures and these other rumours over no visit at all...

The potential loss of the Disneyland Forever show is one reason I am trying to plan a trip soon. It's just turning out to be problematic. I'd prefer to go in October anyway, but if DLF does end in early September, I've gotta try to make it sooner. I wish they would announce something solid.

Me too. Without fireworks, I might swap to WDW. But ADRs are already gone and I would need some time to cobble together a plan.

I hope it's just a rumor.

Though if the rumor about Remember... is true, that would be great! Best fireworks show.

I hope they at least have a nighttime parade during our trip in February!

I was in Disneyland California last week, Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 June. Both nights the fireworks were cancelled last minute due to "high winds" . The park also closed at 11pm. I have been to Disneyland in previous years on the same dates / days, the park stayed open until midnight and fireworks every night.

There have been soo many budget cuts this year, that it wouldnt surprise me that the fireworks are being cut midweek but not being officially announced as being cut as they know people wont be happy. Both nights when the announcement came on, all around me I could hear people saying "high winds my a$$, thanks Shanghai"
