Pure speculation here - but will Disney restrict trades through II to other resort in Hawaii when DVC-Hawaii opens? I know they restrict trades to other resorts in Orlando. Are trades allowed to other HHI resorts?
I was wondering the same thing. As DVC decides to build more and more DVC standalones, trading could disappear. Wasn't that a comment in a thread earlier??
Well I wonder whether the reason to restrict trades to other properties in Orlando is to keep people on-property so as to capture more meal and park revenue.
On Oahu, there are a lot of very nice resorts but with the trading fee, assuming the new resort is in the same league, I don't know that they would need to restrict trades. I would probably use points to stay there before going through the hassle of a trade.
I think that the point difference in staying DVC versus a trade will influence a lot of people. Disney will most likely make it very appealing to just go through DVC.

I think trades to the Marriott at Ko'Olina will definitely be restricted. The question is whether they will restrict the other islands. My guess is no but we'll have to wait and see to be certain. And the reverse is more the question. Do they restrict trades from the other resorts on Oahu or from all HI islands? My guess is they will restrict trades from all resorts in the islands.

It would be disappointing if they did. Especially since I'm more interested in visiting the other islands rather than Oahu. It would be nice, (if you could coordinate it), to trade for a week at another island, and add 3-4 nights at the new DVC especially if there is not as much to do in that location.
