Will Disney hotel rates drop for January?

We're hoping to spend a day at Disneyland before our cruise leaves from LA in late January. We ideally need to stay at a Disney property to catch the transportation to the cruise ship, but the cheapest rate is Paradise Pier at $220/night...kind of steep. Will these rates decrease? It seems like it would be value season. Will deals roll out in the next month or so?

Email PIN codes came ou the other day, I imagine a general discount will come out in a week or two.

What transportation did you get to the cruise termical? They don't have DCL transport from DLR like they do from WDW.

Our transportation to the ship is through DCL. Contacted them and they are offering transportation to the port from each of the 3 DL resorts.

I would suggest if price is a concern you consider staying elsewhere and arranging your own transport.

As I said it is not Disney Transport. It is only arranged by them. Don't expect portal styled windows.

Wait a minute, what are Email Pin Codes?! I have an AP, I sent away for the planning DVD last year, I have a Disney Visa and have 1500 DMR points. What the heck else do I have to do to get emailed a PIN code to stay on property?! This would be our first time on property, BTW, we have stayed at Hojo's and at the Hilton. Is it because we have not stayed on property before?

Thanks!

If I knew I would tell you. I get them by email for WDW but usually postal mail from DLR so by the time I get it, it's all over Disneyland.com anyway. I don't know why it's one way from WDW and the other from DLR.

i just received a pin code via email for adding a disneyland stay to my disney cruise vacation. we were hoping for a discount to come out, so i was happy to receive the pin code. i had been looking at dates on the disneyland site for a while to price things out. i don't know if this is why we got the pin or not???

Ok...so the rates dropped a little for January but still expensive. By the time you add tax, it's $425 for 2 nights at DLH. Then, there's the extra $13 a night in "resort fees." We want to stay at a Disney property for the convience of using the disney shuttle to our crusie ship and because we have some disney rewards dollars to use from our Disney Visa, but is it worth it? Am I better to just save the rewards dollars, book a good neighbor hotel, and find a towncar service to take us to the cruise ship? Can anyone recommend one that is reasonably priced and reliable? We'll need something large because we'll have 3 large suitcases and a large stroller. OR...Is it possible to book a good neighbor hotel close to one of the disney ones and somehow transport our stuff down to one of the disney resorts to catch the shuttle. Since we have only one child under 3, it will only cost us $60 for the shuttle, which I'm sure is cheaper than a towncar. Which good neighbor hotel would be the closest?

The Resort Fee is going to be discontinued in 2011. It should be gone in January. However, there will be a parking fee for each car attached to the reservation.

The hotel rates will always be expensive - they will never be inexpensive. But if they drop below $200 per night, that's pretty good. I got a 'good' rate (PIN code offer) of $163 per night for the PPH in December, and the total, including tax and Resort Fee (because the reservation is for this year when the Resort Fee is still applicable) is still about $614 - for 3 nights. Not cheap at all. And again, that's a good rate. $163 is on par with AP rates for the holiday season. Right now, my $163 rate is better than anything showing on the AP calendar.

So I'm guessing that the $425 price you have might be the best that comes along for a while.

You might try the Annabelle inn, it's not close to the gates but is close to the PPH. Also across from the parks on Harbor, a few couple years ago I got a big room at the Del Sol, It could of fit a twin bed between the beds and tvs, I was shocked by the floor space.

Also some specials are coming out for the disney hotels so you might want something you could cancel and in case something better comes up.

On property hotel prices dropped today, a bit lower. PPH is down to $180/night for the first weekend in January. Saw another person mention their dates in January had gone lower too. Still too high for a quickie trip for me. =( But I try to stick to $100/night or less for anything other than our main fall week. Might be in your price range now.

taaren - where did you see $180 rate for the PPH in January? Did you see it just on the regular booking section of the DLR website? The reason I ask is because that $180 is actually a good rate, believe it or not, given the lack of good rates lately!! I think that if anyone sees it and is determined to stay on-property, they should jump on it. Even the AP rates are not below $200 for December or January, and in the past, you could always find great AP rates of like $139 or so (at PPH) for certain weeks in each month. Not this year, however. There were no good AP rates for November, either.

I saw on that the calender on the AP website shows $216 on Jan 2nd Sunday night, and when I try to book it online, it shows at $180 for that night. But on Jan 1st, it shows $284 a night on both the calender and book it now page. Last year, I seen the price at the PPH go for $150 or little bit lower than last year and this year it is close to $170 or less. I always like to stay on-property but not only for MM, but for the short walk distance to DTD and the parks. When I got the GCH for my Oct trip for only $228 a night for the standard room, I thought that was a great deal during early Oct.

The DL website has a standard room for $182 per night for the weekend of Jan 7-9. I paid a $23 upgrade for "lower floor resort view" hoping that guarantees me a renovated room in the Dreams tower. On the regular page there is a two night minimum. On the AP page you can just book one night and the price is the same. The rates are not on the "calendar", but if you click on "book now" and put your dates in, they come up. I also wanted to book the first weekend in April for a friends birthday, but the rates were much higher. I hope everyone gets the dates and rates they want! :)

If you want a renovated room at the DL Hotel you need to book a "preferred" room.

Thanks for that info, Bret and Linda!! That's very interesting, indeed. So the $182 is available to the general public as well as AP holders? The AP hotel calendar is supposed to show the lowest available rates for AP holders, whether it's an 'AP9' rate, or whatever they would be calling it now, or just the 10% discount. But it sounds like the only way to discover the lower rate is to use the Book Now option. So there is a lower rate available than what's on the AP calendar, but it almost seems like they don't want the AP holders to know about it!!

When I tried to book a room at the GCH during my Oct. trip, I saw on the AP calender that the cheapest room was the park view for $282 and the standard room was $342. When I use the Book Now option, it showed the standard room for only $228 a night. Talk about a big difference when you look at the AP calender and the Book Now option. But also the calender can change from one price to another so it is unpredictable of which days the price would be lowered or standard price.

I know 180 is a good rate, and yep, found it on the Book Now regular website (oddly APs were higher). Was really hoping it might come down to 150/night so I could justify 2 days at DLR rather than the alt plan of chilling at a friends house in NorCal. But alas, I think I just need to give DL a break and finish paying off my upcoming cruise before the 0% runs out ...
