Will DDP transfer from one magic band to the next?

I actually have a bunch of Magic Band questions but will start with just one (or two). I guess I have to set a scenerio to set up my question...
There is a DVC reservation for 4 nights. 2 couples check into the DVC to share the room. They get their magic bands to which DDP is added, maybe park passes are added. After 2 nights, one of the couples move into their own room...get a new set of magic bands but still have DDP credits and (possibly) park passes on their first bracelets. Will all of this information be transferred to their new bracelets or will they have to wear 2 bracelets?

Nothing is loaded onto the magic bands. Dining plan credits will be attached to your accounts. You should be able to use all magic bands interchangably, as long as they remain active on your account. Therefore, no, they won't have to wear 2 sets of bands.

OK. Thanks. I think I understand that the bands are like the ATM card and MDE is like the bank. I can wrap my head around that. But... The example I used is a real scenerio but neither couple is on MDE. I, different DVC room altogether, am sort of the organizer of this trip of 18 people and am the only one on MDE. I entered the info for their magic bands, I linked the rooms. I did not add ME or DDP to each room later, when it was booked. So how does MDE information get updated? Do I have to go back in and somehow add the DDP information and ME information? I don't even think I can do that, right?

I'm not sure of the answer to your second set of questions, but I can tell you what happened during our DVC split stay in March. We had additional credits left the day we checked out of BCV that could be used up until midnight that night. We were planning on using them for lunch and dinner that day. When I checked us in to AKV it activated that portion of our DDP (on the same band - no need to switch). However, although we still had unused credits, the restaurant machines were automatically pulling the credits from our second DDP. Because of the Disboards, I knew this could happen so I got a printout when we checked out of BCV and saved our dining receipts from that day. The front desk credited them back to us in about 5 minutes. But I was glad I was paying attention to it. It should not be a problem at all, but just check and make sure the right credits are being pulled if they are still on DDP for the second reservation.

Whenever you make a change in your reservation info, it is put into your computer file. That file is part of your MDE account.
Since the MagicBand accesses that account, any change you make will be available via the MB.

Of course, all of that will happen if there are no glitches in your MDE and MB.

Thank you. All of this information helps. But....how does MDE know that "Mary Doe" in room 1 is the same "Mary Doe" in room 2? The connection really is that I (MDE input person) have put in their information. Short of that, couldn't it be a whole different person? I'm sorry. I'm really trying to absorb this fully.

i have 5 different MBs (various stays since MB introduction) - i can, and have used different MBs depending upon my outfit for the day (don't judge ).

yes, mary doe #2 can be a different person if you set MDE that way, but mary1's MDE info/pass could not be accessed from mary2's MB.

you (the person inputting MDE info) must select marydoe1 as the guest staying in each room - the system only sees the info you give it.
you can add DME to the reservations via the DVC (which links to the MDE) website.
sorry, i'm not sure if the DDP shows up on MDE as we haven't used it recently.

Basically YOU are the person of record on the room. You have MDE. You have DDP. So clearly there is no problem here for you.

Mary Doe is a random person staying with you. She is not on your MDE. She bought DDP... but if she links to your MDE, it will all be on your account. You want it on her account.

So can two not-connected guests even share a room, and be on different MDE accounts? You need a stay to link DDP. Cuz DDP is based on your nights at a Disney hotel right?

If you and she are sharing a room and MDE, don't you have to be on the same dates and same DDP? Then when she checks out of that room and into another she would be then on a new ressie, new DDP?

I guess I don't see how a random person staying with you even qualifies for DDP cuz they have no nights booked in their name. Mary Does is essentially just crashing in your room?

I'd love more clarification. I'm not much help, but am def interested in hearing how ppl deal w these unusual situations.

My head hurts. Here's the big picture. I (the mom and DVC owner) have about 9 rooms at the Boardwalk in September. Most were booked with my membership, a couple with another person's membership. With seven 20 something year old's going, it was our choice to have them share rooms at the beginning of their stay to save points and then move into their own rooms. So therefore, from a reservation point of view, they show up on two rooms. When booking the DDP, I was leary of having the "other person who I rented from" book DDP for me, so instead just booked the DDP for 4 in one room even though they'll be two in one room, two in the other. Bottom line, some of my guest show up in 2 reservations. I thought I was smart. I knew I wasn't breaking any rules. Now I'm just confused.

p.s. I"m (MDE input person) am in another room entirely.
