Will Coronado Springs disappoint after the Polynesian?

My family and I had the perfect first trip to WDW last September. We stayed at The Polynesian Resort and loved everything about it. We don't have the money to stay Deluxe on our next trip. Will Coronado Springs be a dissapointment for us?

I don't think so. Obviously the Polynesian has the convenience factor and has more deluxe amenities, but Coronado Springs really is a lovely resort. It is probably the most "deluxe" of the mods. The resort itself is beautiful, the cast members are very nice, the rooms are pretty spacious and it's a nice experience. I wouldn't worry. Just go into it with the right attitude, being open to the new experience and you'll have a great time! It's Disney, after all!

That depends on your expectations! Coronado is certaintly not the poly, however its a great property! There is more walking, but being a convention resort has a little more than what other moderates have! We stayed there a weekend and it was great, the pool was very fun and the areas were nice to walk around. and the food was good. it was nice to pick our breakfast in the morning and head outside and sit by the lake just relaxing, it was really nice!
We go back and forth between moderates and deluxe, and its been great so far! No disapointments!

Stayed at both. Prefer Coronado. Couldn't get away from the musty smell of the Poly when we were there. Poly has a nice location but Coronado has the best bus service on property. Light some tiki torches along the walkways at Coronado and there would be no comparison.

I haven't stayed at the Poly, so I can't compare. We just stayed at CSR though and, except for how long the walks were to things, really liked it. We kind of expect long walks at WDW, but I do think this is larger than the other Mods, probably because of the additional buildings for convention meetings. We stayed in Casitas 5. I thought that or Casitas 4 would be a good location. They are right by bus stop 2. That is the first bus stop, so you don't have to stand if the bus gets full and you are the first one dropped off. Casitas 4 has the health club. Casitas 5 put us about 1/2 way from El Centro and the main pool. The quiet pool at Casitas 4 was great and it was right by the health club and laundry facilities. A lot of people like the Cabanas. I mostly asked for Casitas so we could be close to the first bus stop and close to the health club.

We have only stayed at Mods. The deluxe hotels look beautiful, but we just can't swallow the price tag of them, especially since we spend most of our time in the parks, with the exception of a few swims. CSR had the most "deluxe" feel of the mods we have stayed in, with the duvet covers on the beds, sliding doors on the bathroom, nicer toiletries, health club, more food options. Another nice thing was that CSR was one of the first resorts in the line up at the parks when it was time to go back to the room at night. The bus service was great for us. It only took maybe 10-15 minutes to get to all the parks. We just missed a bus once and was able to walk (very fast) over to El Centro to get on it at the last stop(stop #1).

They do have the business class rooms at CSR. Maybe that would give you an even more "deluxe" experience. I think those are about $60 more per night than a standard room.

Honestly I think the room quality at all of the Disney resorts is pretty good. Where you find the large differences is in the type and extent of theme, room size, dining options, pool, balcony and location. In regards to the Poly, I think the primary difference is the location/access to the monorail. I don't think you'll find huge differences in room quality really between the two but CSR won't be on the lagoon right across form the MK and you will be relying on Disney bus transportation rather than the monorail.

Go with the mindset to enjoy it and I imagine you really will. I enjoy staying at deluxe resorts and I enjoy the values too.pixiedust: Each is its' own unique experience.

We've stayed at Poly for the last 4 years, and have never stayed at a mod before. Last year I retired from my full time job after 20 years, and until we had a good idea of where things would be financially, we just couldn't swing Poly.

I just set my mind to a place where I said, "I need to be grateful that I can go, and not set myself up for disappointment".

That said, it's different. I missed Poly very much, and fortunately, this year we are able to go back. I knew we would be able to return to Poly someday, hopefully for your family the same is true. Try to concentrate on the fact that at least you are able to go.

It's a nice resort, just not the same for us. The walk to the pool from where we were was very far, quick food selections not so hot, the fancier restaurant just ok, long walk from our room to just about everything including bus stop, rooms smaller with sporadic cell phone/wi fi service. There are differences aside from the obvious (location).

Bottom line, I was glad I could go as opposed to not being able to go at all. Hopefully you can get back to Poly soon!

You have to remember that Deluxe is different from Moderate; they are two different resorts. But CSR is a fantastic resort in the moderate category and if you can keep yourself from constantly comparing the two, I think you'll really enjoy it :)

Another family that prefers CSR to the Poly. You do have walking at CSR but you also have walking at the Poly.
Our favorite building is Casitas 8B. It's right near the Dig Site pool and also very close to the bridge shortcut to El Centro, the main building. That said, we love all the different areas and themes.

I dont think so. It's a beautiful resort! We usually stay at the Beach Club but this year due to budget we will be staying at CSR also! To us even though CSR is a moderate the rooms have more of a deluxe feel :)

Nay, CSR is fantastic! We usually visit Poly to eat at at one of the restaurants, but I'm very happy staying at CSR.

CSR is awesome .... stayed there last year, also visited the poly twice while there ... I think both look great but wouldnt spend the money for the poly csr is just fantastic ....

Going is better than not going. But we felt the drop when we went moderate after many deluxe trips. We like and use resort amenities. Do you? If you don't then you won't miss them at a moderate.

I felt cooped up in the CSR room. Where there should have been a window at the very least and more often a balcony or patio there was...the bathroom. So the moderate room has a more cave-like feel (for us). I kept wanting to go sit outside on the balcony but there was none. Lol. Life should be so tragic for all of us, I know, but I never relaxed that whole trip.

It is beautiful at CSR...but it is huge! If you are not walkers, do your research and request a specific building or area when you check in. We were in Casitas 3 and it was very convenient.

My favourite Deluxe Resort is the Poly and my favourite moderate resort is CSR. They are very different and I wouldn't compare them. If you ignore the major benefits of the Poly (location, TS restaurants, large room sizes) then CSR fits right in there :) I love the CS restaurnat at CSR. I love the Queen beds at CSR. I love the landscaping and pools at CSR.

As others have said, if you go in with the right mindset, you should be fine. Our last two trips were at the BC, Club Level and I knew this year, we couldn't swing deluxe so back to CSR we go. We actually LOVED this resort when we last stayed in '09...it definitely has a deluxe feel. I was actually psyched to hear they added the Business Class and that's what we've booked for our upcoming stay. CSR is an absolutely beautiful resort and the main pool is gorgeous. Don't worry and enjoy!

We stayed at Poly our first trip and have stayed at POR twice since then. Although we loved Poly, it was hard for us to justify the added expense when POR suited our needs just fine. We are trying CSR on our next trip without hesitation.

Thanks everyone. I think the biggest thing we will miss is the ease and variety of transportation from the Polynesian. There are a lot of things we missed during our first trip that we want to do so I'll concentrate on that instead of what we miss about the Poly.

As many have posted, with the right mind set you will be fine. After staying Poly, Old Key West and AKL (AKL is my new favorite) I really didn't want to stay moderate. But, last trip it was go budget or not go. In the end we stay at POR and was pleasantly surprised. Personally I would love to stay at CSR, but since I travel with my family from the southwest, no one wants to stay at someplace that reminds them of home:confused3! CSR reminds me of the Poly in some ways, and the CSR lobby is really beautiful. Enjoy your stay there, I think it will be wonderful and you will be surprised at how great it can be.
