Will buying 75 direct points get me around the Jan 2019 restrictions completely?

If I buy some resale points now (post-January 2019) and then go buy 75 points direct from Disney, I know that will get me around the 2016 changes so that I’ll have discounts, etc. - but will it also get me around the recent Jan. 2019 changes? Put another way, could I only use those 75 points to book Riviera or would having those direct points enable me to use ALL of my points to book Riviera?

Any definitive answer on this?

Only the points bought direct or pre Jan 2019 restrictions can be used at future resorts. So buying the 75 will not allow you to use all your points if purchased after the set of restrictions went into place.

Yes, unfortunately you could only book the newer resorts with the 75.

Buy you could bank and borrow and bring up to 225 points to bear on a reservation at Riviera.

And you’d have the other contract to use in the meantime.

From this point forward any resale purchases will not have access to the new resorts. So only your direct points will have Riviera access. You could certainly book a split stay - so using your 75 direct for Rivera and then use your resale points anywhere else. The Rivera point charts are still a mystery so we have no clue what 75 points could get you.
