I thought I had read somewhere that Bell Services can help you get a taxi but that they charge a fee for that service. Can anyone confirm this and if so, what's the fee?

We are doing the train tour during our stay in a few weeks. I think it'd be easier for them to arrange it for us. We won't be renting a car and Disney told us we would have to provide our own transportation as the busses are not running that early and we have to be at the MK gate at 7am.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Buses to the Magic Kingdom area begin service around 6:30am, daily.

There's usually a cab waiting at the Porte Cochere... if not, Bell Services can call one for you. There is no charge for this service. Some people may tip the bellman for it, but I see no reason to.

You can also call yourself a cab. Most lobbys have a direct line to Mears (the company that runs Checker Cab), and the Operator can connect you from any room or house phone. (Dial 0 for the operator)

Usually doormen at hotels are tipped for hailing a cab ($1). I don't think Disney has "doormen" so it's up to you. If they go out of their way for you, I would show your appreciation.

It's so hard to tell who and what to tip for and all that...

Personally, I think tipping for calling a cab is a bit over the top. But tipping for exceptional service, that I can agree with.

That's odd . . . I was told by my travel agent that Disney told them when she booked the tour for us that I had to provide my own transportationt - that there would be absolutely no Disney Transportation available at that time to get me to the MK gate.

Oh well. We'll probably take a cab anyway to be on the safe side.

Thanks!

Never trust transportation information unless it comes from someone wearing purple pants (ie: bus driver). I know it sounds silly, but its so true. (I still have an honorary pair of purple pants... lol)

Did your travel agent tell you that the taxi can't take you to the MK gates? You'd have to be dropped off near the Contemporary and walk in from there.

I always tip $1 - $2 when a bellman or doorman hails me a cab. It's just customary.

I have become pretty convinced that most travel agents have no clue about most things Disney...they learn something once, and they generalize it forever. My SIL got horrible, wrong info from a TA at AAA - luckily, she mentioned it to me before she made a mistake that could have cost her about $200!

Yes, she did say that. I figure I can talk it over with Bell Services once I get there. I'm sure they'll be able to get me there.

I actually trust my TA very much. Their's is one that specializes in Disney vacations and she hasn't steered me wrong so far!

Thanks!
