Hi everyone I'm new to the DISboards. I will be buying my DVC membership soon but I wanted to know do season passes to the parks come with the membership?

Nope, they do sometimes offer a ticket or AP discount but it depends on what mood they are in.

In the early days of Disney Vacation Club, many owners received free park admission during their stays. However, this offer was more of a purchase incentive rather than an ownership perk. The free park admission was guaranteed at the time of purchase to those who bought in the early 1990s. Passes were provided for half the occupancy of the villa reserved--two free passes for those staying in a Deluxe Studio or One Bedroom and four passes for Two Bedroom Villa occupants.

The promise of free passes was guaranteed only through the end of 1999.

I do know I don't need your opinion to buy.
Thanks

I'm sure that Dean is only looking out for your best interests, there is a lot to know about the DVC and many of the resale contracts listed are from new buyers who learned the hard way how complicated the DVC can be.

That was pretty Snarky response to someone that is giving you excellent advice.

DVC is a LONG term contract and if you really don't know something as basic as questioning if DVC comes with annual passes, then doing some more research would be beneficial. If you truly just was asking a simple question because you did the tour way back in 1991 and wanted to know if they are still giving that perk away, then welcome "back to the future".

Yall can say whatever you want my question was answered. And I meant what I said I don't need opinions.......

I'm pretty sure Dean meant to say you should Gather more information, rather than Father. (Although...knowing his puckish sense of humor...)

You absolutely don't need his opinion to buy, but the prudent newbie would do well to check his ego at the door and listen to the voice of wisdom.

Or...just don't ask. Buy direct and finance, and good luck to you.

My opinion is - this bbs (or any other online forum) is probably NOT a good place for you as just about everyone here has an opinion. Fortunately, my opinion is usually the best and most accurate of them all

Good luck with your DVC purchase.

Of course you don't but the fact remains that it takes time and a significant amount of gathered information to make an informed purchase. I would expect anyone who'd investigated enough to make an informed purchase would have known the answer to the question you asked. IMO it takes about 6 months of active investigation to do so on sites such as this. We all wish you the best of luck regardless.

It's a timeshare. Period. You'd do well to lose the attitude. There are a lot of people here who can provide very valuable advice and insight. It doesn't help to be rude.

I have not met "Dean" but with 32,475 posts over the past 16 years (averages to be over 5.6 posts per day x 5,780 days) I would recommend that you THANK him for any advice he may offer you.

I don't think Dean meant his response as a criticism so much as a word of caution. The basics of dvc does not include any reliable perks (no passes to DW/DL). As a timeshare, your contract only guarantees you a room at your resort for the number of points that you have.

The concern he- and many people- probably felt was that if you hope/expect/need to ask whether free park passes are included, then you don't know the program at all, and you may want to take a step back and learn more about the program-- especially since it's appx 5 figures to buy in and $500-1500/yr maintenance fee, depending on where you buy and his many points you purchase.

Good luck. We are in our 4/5th year and are starting to really understand dvc. My sister is in her 8th year, and gets it now :). Have fun and happy shopping

Wow my first reaction when I started to read this thread was to jump to Deans defense. But as Dean has shown in all his posts, he is a gentleman. Well done Dean and it shows that no one has to get in a pissing contest on these boards, just move along.
