We have been to WDW several times but never for a special occasion before. This time we will be celebrating my DH's birthday. I have heard that if we let them know that we are celebrating a special occasion, it might be acknowledged by WDW in some way.

Has anyone had experience with this? I'm sure the kids (and maybe my DH) would get a kick out of anything special they might do.

if you want to amek sure you get something i would set something with teh resort
have a cake delievered from the GF or check out

and i order the cinderella slipper to be delivered to our room
it was great

I think the key word here is *might*. There are so many people celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, etc., that some get acknowledged, while others do not. The best thing you can do is note the occasion on your reservation when you make it, make a mention when you check-in, and on any ARs you make (also mentioning the birthday when you check-in at the restaurant).

I would plan something on your own to celebrate (perhaps ordering something delivered to your room or a cake one night at dinner), then any unexpected pixie dust you might receive is all the more magical. We had a CM come to our room and sing Happy Anniversary to us on our first night. He presented a card w/signed photo of Mickey & Minnie. A truly magical and unexpected moment!

I personally think that it depends on how busy a resort/restaurant is and basic luck. It doesn't hurt to note it in your reservation, and then again mention it when you're there. Definitely saying it in a fun, non-demanding way...

Hope you have a wonderful vacation and happy birthday for your DH.

One year we were at the Dolphin on my husband's birthday. I arranged for a small cake to be delivered from the hotel. It wasn't too expensive. I expected a small cake. They delivered a small, nicely decorated cake on a roll around table with decorative paper tablecloth, little sparkly things all over the tablecloth, actual dishes and forks- not plastic, and I think some balloons. It was very nicely done.

I ordered a gift basket from Peggy Kellogg (Feralpeg) for my DH's 30th b-day in April. She did a great job!

He got acknowledgment just about everywhere we went, though. We got all the b-day pins, and literally every restaurant that I had noted on the AR that it was his b-day, they did something. A special dessert, some sang to him, he got a signed card along with a special dessert at Le Cellier, and a special placemat and cupcake at Chef Mickey's breakfast. Our waiter at the California Grill let us milk our meal so we got to see Wishes!

The thing that was really the best for him was what the AKL did. I had it noted on our reservation, but after we checked in, we had waiting for us in our room a signed card from Mickey Mouse, a mickey-shaped small cake, and a safari Mickey figurine. Needless to say, that made his day!!

Here's some pixie dust for you... :wizard:

Don't expect anything. We noted my DS's 6 bday on our PS at the WL this past April and he didn't receive anything, not even a card. He turned 6 5 days into our trip. It didn't matter to us since we enjoyed our vacation and celebrated on his bday at Chef Mickey's where Goofy brought him a cake. A year and a half ago, we were at the WL for my DD's 7 bday. I asked at the front desk if they could give her a card; they finally did after asking twice, and it just didn't seem worth the trouble. The only reason that I asked at the front desk is because my DD overheard another girl at the Roaring Forks talking about how the WL put a bday card in her room for her bday. I just should have bought a card myself, but I thought if I asked it would be easy for them to do. There are probably way too many people that celebrate bdays and un-bdays there. My DD was a little sad too since we finally got the card on our last day at the WL (5 days after her bday). Perhaps, you'll be lucky and get something, but the chances are better that you won't unless you plan it yourself.
