Right now , I'm looking at $378 for a week starting april 15 with Natl.. That's a little spendy.

This is the week after Easter week. . Is this an average rate for this time of year?

herc.?

BTW, I just paid $102 inclusive in August for a full size for a week, so this really seems high.

herc.

book it, don't prepay & hope for the best.

kudos on the low rate for Aug.

rate over Columbus Day week were so high, we only rented for a long weekend picking up @ Dolphin & it still cost almost $150. Of course the week before & after our vacation was much lower. lol

I am in the same boat. The best rate I have so far is through Dollar. I used the code KISS2 and got a compact for $172 with taxes for my dates.

I get a better deal I will post here.

Looks like a midsize from National for a week starting 4/15 is $251. So prices did come down. Hopefully they will come down further before you rent.

(This is with Vacation Outlet contract ID, and $25 off weekly coupon)

THe rates have been staying pretty high since last summer. I'm still waiting for a good rate for my trip for a week early February (low season). Seems the days of really low rates are gone. If you can manage to find a rate for about $200 a week, consider that good now. I finally got a mid-size SUV for 7 days for early February for $201 and that's much lower than a mid-size with National ($244). I did book through Dollar with the KISS2 discount for my April 28-May 11 trip and got a good rate for a full size. Though I would prefer National or Alamo, I booked through Dollar as a back up. Keep an eye on the boards for any discount postings....as I will be watching too.

I've been trying different combinations of codes for weeks for our 4/6/07-4/13/07 trip. Finally got a great rate from Dollar. Used the corporate code oi1054 (this is the orlando magicard) and got a compact for $159.30 including all taxes and fees. Found this code on Mousesavers of course where it said code expires 2/17/07 but I tried it anyway and it worked for me. I downloaded the free magicard-so we should be good to go! I should add that we begin our rental at MCO and end at TPA as we will spend a few days at the beach. Hope this helps someone else. See you at Magic Kingdom Easter Sunday:goodvibes

Just wanted to let you know I decided to try another code from the Magicard at Thrifty( 004M001010) for 4/6/07 - 4/13/07. Got an even better rate on a compact for $147.61. This includes unlimited mileage and free extra driver. Both the Dollar and Thrifty reservations require no credit card for reservation. I'm going to keep both ressies for now and see if I can get these down even lower before we go. Hope this helps somebody!

I have never rented offsite and Thrifty is off site. Has anyone had any experience with this. Is it a pain to take the shuttle?

Try Dollar Car Rental, they seem to be the cheapest. I just got a rate of $190.00 for 8 days April 21... best so far:surfweb:
