Will Animal Kingdom get "A Good Dinosaur" attraction?

I wonder if a new dino attraction will be put in Animal Kingdom if the Good Dinosaur is successful? The movie which is done by Pixar will come out in November. It is about an alternate timeline where Earth was never hit by an asteroid and dinosaurs never became extinct. They evolve and become very human like in the film.

I’d love to see a family ride put in that is like the Little Mermaid, Winnie the Pooh, and Monsters Inc in Disneyland.

I certainly wouldn't mind a replacement for Dino-rama. I don't think a Good Dinosaur ride is in the plans for the next few years, but if it's successful (and it probably will be), I'm sure the idea will be analyzed at some point after Pandora's opening.

It's a possibility but of course will depend on how the movie ends up doing.

The problem is that The Good Dinosaur is about a world where dinosaurs are not extinct. That is not the concept of Dinoland, which is The Dino Institute and archaeology. I have heard the rumor of a Good Dinosaur themed show potentially replacing Finding Nemo the Musical.

The next rumor that I've heard for Animal Kingdom post-Avatar/Rivers of Light is the possibility of Zootopia being used to re theme and expand Rafiki's Planet Watch.

I don't think we would see anything until after the films are out because if they fail they aren't going to draw people into the parks.

Of course, that's a given. I was just sharing that the only rumor that I had any knowledge of for post-Avatar DAK was Zootopia with a possible new show for Dinoland. Obviously the films have to succeed first.

Thanks for clearing that up!

This will probably end up the same way as all the Tomorrowland talk went afew months ago. Nowhere.

Why is it every time Disney puts out a new film, somebody starts asking if they will build a ride based on it? Before they have even seen the thing. I don't get it. Look how long it took them to announce the Little Mermaid ride. How many years after the film debuted? SDMT. How many years after Snow White came out?. TSMM didn't open till 13 years after the first film came out.

Well little mermaid had a show in DHS prior to MK. Mermaid was also open prior in DCA before it came to MK. As for Snow White they had snow whites scary adventures in Fantasyland which was an opening day attraction if I'm not mistaken if it wasn't it's been there for a very long time until it closed a couple years ago. Buzz lightyear was present in MK before DHS as well.

Yes, I know the Snow White ride was( and still is in DL) one of the original rides. SDMT wasn't. Little Mermaid at DHS and Buss Lightyear are good examples of rides that opened quickly after the movie. Those only took 3 yrs, I believe. I was going to say that I didn't remember a lot of talk about creating rides for them before they were released, but those were long before I learned about the Dis.

I don't really know how Imagineering works, but I assume that as Animal Kingdom's lead designer, Joe Rhode would have to be somewhat involved in every major development happening at AK. Remember that Joe's been assigned to Marvel quite recently. If Rhode is involved with some sort of Marvel land, it will take a few years before he gets to focus on AK again. I don't think Disney has any post-Pandora plans for Animal Kingdom right now.

I don't really know how involved Rhode has to be though.

Yes Joe is basically involved in everything that happens at AK. He is now also assigned to Marvel so he will have double duty. AK is like his baby he is there often and stays at AKL often. Joe bounces fr Glendale to Orlando to his long trips in Europe and the Middle East.

Agree that this is unlikely to occur.
1) Big investment going on in AK - they won't throw in another ride at this stage.
2) Good Dinosaur would have to be a HUGE hit to trigger immediate response from Disney. (Frozen-level hits are the only thing that does this...I can think of only a few that triggered near-immediate positioning of the IP into the parks and by "near immediate" I am saying 2-4 years. Those are Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Frozen.)
3) There are probably blue sky ideas filed away in Imagineering for EVERY movie Disney ever released. That makes it no more likely that you will see a Black Cauldron themed coaster, or a Good Dinosaur ride.

Wasn't Dinosaur in Animal Kingdom long before the movie came out, or did they just add Aledar to the preshow of Countdown to Extinction? If he was always there, it shows Disney puts things in before it comes out.

Countdown to Extinction predates Dinosaur by two years.

I know, but I'm trying to remember with Aladar was part of it opening day or if they had a different Pre-Show. If only the name changed and pre show was the same, it shows Disney will build rides for movie prior to them being release and not knowing if they gonna be big.

That's what they did for A Bug's Life. (A show rather than a ride, but still)
