We are "sharing the wealth" so to speak and have booked a Disney Cruise as well as a 4 night pre-cruise stay for family members so they could experience these things with us. I was able to secure 2 value studios at AKV. One will be for my DH and myself, and the other will be for my cousin, his wife and their 2 little girls (one will be 4 years old and the other 2 years old). Will this be adequate space for them? We've never stayed in a value before, but because we are using a large number of points this vacation (to book 2 cabins on the Dream + the studios before the cruise) it was less points for me to put out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

I think they will have plenty of space. I imagine the studio is comparable to a regular hotel room with the added kitchenette.

I spent 8 nights with my 8 yo dd and my 11 yo ds and we didn't feel crowded at all. Quit worrying and enjoy your vacation.

It's the same size as a room at POR. Before DVC the five of us (pre baby) used to stay in one room at POR and it was fine! I think the value villa will be nice for a family of 4.

I have stayed in a Value Studio (me, DW, and DD4). As long as the 4yo and 2 yo don't mind sleeping in the same bed (the pullout couch) you are fine.

If they want the 4yo to sleep on the couch and the 2yo in a crib of some kind, then space is going to be an issue.

I found this video on youtube and it shows the size of the value studio...

Thanks for the info :)

Thanks for the info. I'm not worrying just excited and hope they love the AKL and DVC as much as we do!:)

If the kids will sleep on the pullout its fine. If they need the pack and play it might br tight. I lucked into a value for me, my mom and dd5 and it was fine. I loved the convenient location and thought it was a great deal. We stayed 4 nights. This will be a great way to share dvc. My dd5 loved the pool. Also the jambo kids club (simbas) is her favorite. With the dvc discount 2 hours is only around 20 dollars and she just loves it - loads of arts and crafts and 2 hours is more than enough for adults to have a peaceful meal. My dd also loves the animal tracking and a morning pelican activity by the pool. Dont second guess yourself you made a great choice to maximize your points. akl is great for kids.

We've stayed there too with young children and it's fine. It feels a little tight once the bed is pulled out and there's not a lot of space for pillow cushions etc but for the majority of the day it a great use of points! We use values a lot for split stays.

Lots and lots of families with two children- older than these wee ones-- stay in the All Stars every day; any DVC studio is better than that. They'll be fine.

having stayed in a value studio i'd say that would be getting pretty tight. i wouldn't recommend it.

but if they don't mind being squeezed a little, it can work for some people, though...

We're fine with a teen & 2 adults & often try to book it @ 7 months to stretch points when other family members want to travel on our dime;)

imo though the rooms are very dark, combo of lighting & color of decor, makes the unit look smaller than it really is.

enjoy your trip OP:goodvibes

My thought exactly. Some people here treat studios like they are walk in closets. For a family of four they are more than fine. More families staying on site in value will have a room smaller than a studio, and no one has to sleep standing up.

I'm sure they will be grateful fir the trip no matter where there staying, I know I would if you were doing this for me!!

They will love it no matter what the size! We stayed at yacht club for 18nights in one room me, dh dd 18 dd 16 and dd 8!!

We stayed in a value studio for 5 nights in May with a 5 and 6 yo.
I really didn't notice much difference between the regular studio and the value.
And we had a Savanna View. :thumbsup2
We actually liked the set up better.
The couch was closer to the bathroom and the bed was near the window.
You don't have the 2 foot space from the bathroom wall to the first bed or couch.
The space between the beds is the same. We were very comfortable.
You can still request a Dedicated Studio which guarantees you won't get a parking lot view.

I don't think they will allow you to request a dedicated studio any more. When did you do that?

We've stayed in a Value studio for 14 nights with 2 adults and 2 children. Although it wasn't as spacious as other villas, we were fine.

We didn't spend that much time in it so no one complained. If we know that we'll be going back to the resort a lot and spending more time in the room we would get the 1 bedroom, otherwise, we were fine.
