I found an expensive item on line for the sale price of $0.00! I went through the checkout and it was still $0.00. I paid about $8.00 in shipping. I have the dated receipt, the email confirming my order, and even did a screen capture that showed they price at $0.00.

Will they honor this mistake? I remember an airline that advertised tickets for $6.00 when it should have been $600.00 and they honored the mistake. I am hoping this company will honor this.

I am assuming that if they make good on the order someone will be in big trouble!

*update*
I got a call yesterday, they were quick! She mumbled a lot, I guess she thought I would pitch a fit, but she said it was a mistake and would I like to buy it at regular price.

I highly doubt they will honor that. It's so obviously a mistake.

I think your chances are about the same as the price you hope to get... zero. I doubt Unit Pricing laws will be of help as they normally only apply to brick-n-mortar stores.

I don't want this to sound snotty. I don't begrudge you a "deal", but a $0.00 price isn't a deal - its a mistake. I hope that they don't honor it because that just gives people more of a feeling of entitlement. I don't mean you - I don't know you - but so many people feel they "deserve" something for nothing

Depends on the online store. Some do, some don't. Places like Best Buy don't usually honor stuff like that even in store but some places may depending on how wide spread the mistake was or not.

I got a Megazord for about $20 when they cost over $50 because Toys R Us had mis-priced it. They honored it! :) I remember it very well because that $35 meant a lot to me then. Almost felt like I'd won the flippin lotto.

I know that stores have to honor the prices. There's a law that says they can't advertise one price and then charge another. Don't know about online stuff, though.

Good luck!

I bought a PS3 on Amazon this summer that came with 3 free Blu-Ray movies. Not only were the movies free, but they actually deducted the price of the movies from the price of the PS3. They shipped it out and never charged me anything extra.

shellybaxter, that is why I am not saying what website it is, or giving more details. I thought I would do it to see if it went through, and when it did I was very suprised! I am fully expecting to get an email saying it was a mistake and if I would like to purchase it at the real price to contact them. I was just wondering if there were any laws about this.

I'm not sure if they will honor it or not. If I was going to order it regardless of the price I would have done exactly what you did also, figuring if I get charged the regular price no loss, but if I get the "deal", then it was like winning on a lottery scratch off ticket!!!!! :goodvibes

Most are so automated that it will be a while before they even catch it. with all the BF overrides in place and being taken down you never know.

I look at it as it's their sight ,their fault and they should honor it.

I have had real deals with after rebates I got money back I see no difference.

If you go ask this on the Budget Board you'll probably get a ton of answers from experience. When ever someone finds a mispriced item, they post it over there & they all go crazy buying up the stuff. Then they keep each other posted on the turnout.

It gets quite entertaining sometimes.

I was having problems with Kohl's this past Super Saturday.

I got a Red crock pot for my dd and it was suppose to be $31.99. When I got to check out the price showed $34.00 regular price and sale price $26.99.
I applied a 15% code and it took off another $3.90. Then it added another $7.99 on for special weight shipping. The regular shipping was free. Did that make your head spin, ya mine too.

I bought something from Red Envelope a few months back and whenever I checked out it came out to 0.00 for whatever reason. I let it ride because I really wanted the item. Three days later my visa was charged the correct amount of 42.90 so maybe that's what will happen in this case as well, I wouldn't worry about it.

Unfortunately some stores don't think it applies to them. I received a catalog thing from the Disney Store. In it was the Giselle dress. It was priced at 49.50 and stated it would be out in late November. My Mom wanted to get it for my DD. So we try to order it the other night and it is now $150.00!!!!
I called the CS # and they said - "Yeah, that was a misprint" Basically too bad so sad. I think that is wrong. There wasn't even a sign in the store stating that there was a misprint. (I was there yesterday) I emailed them but I doubt they will even respond. I think in this case they are wrong and should honor the price they advertised. It is the same item # and everything.:sad2:

I don't blame a store one bit for not honoring a misprint or error. OK a couple dollars and it's nice if they do but something marked free by mistake and people get pissed the store doesn't honor it  I just don't get it. We all make mistakes.

Worse yet - you get mad when they fix the price? Yikes. What's this world coming to?

I agree with you. This is an obvious mistake, and I personally wouldn't feel right about it. It seems like taking advanatage. I'm all for a great deal, like you said, this one isn't a deal, it's a mistake.

Whenever I read about a great deal online, if it's something I'm interested in I'll go to the site and put it in my shopping bag--then stop to think about it for 10 minutes. 99% of the time I decide that good deal or not, I don't need it, so why am I buying it and close the window. A good deal is only a good deal when it's something you need or were going to buy anyhow, on sale or not.

Stores cover themselves in two ways:
1) Does the phrase "Prices subject to change without notice" sound familiar? It can be found printed widely in catalogs and promotional materials.
2) Generally speaking, legally business' aren't required to honor printing errors in such materials. Retailers also often put "Not responsible for printing errors" in promo ads too. So there's no "law" that they don't think applies to them. If you were a business owner, would you like to held liable for a printer's error? Normally, the only prices retailers are required to honor (depending on state law) is the sticker price on the shelf.
