Will a character hold a sign for a photo?

I have a friend whose daughter is battling cancer. For the second time

She *loves* tinkerbell, and I was thinking I would try to get a photo of Tink holding sign with a message for her. OR maybe even record a video with a message... Anyone know if this is something they will do during a normal M&G? Any tips? I've read conflicting info on whether they will do this...

Thanks!

Bless her, I can't imagine how hard that is and that's very nice of you.

I am sure they would be happy to send a hello and some nice wishes. My only suggestion would be try to keep it a little more upbeat for Tink and the other guests. What if you purchased a little Tinkerbell treasure or something and have Tinkerbell let your friends daughter know she is sending her a special surprise just for her?

I was planning on getting a small Tink souvenir, and sending it along with a simple photo of Tink holding a simple sign that just says "Hi, (name), get well soon". Nothing too depressing or elaborate.

I don't think they will hold a sign that you bring, because the sign has to be vetted - they are not going to let characters hold any sign that guests bring along. They may not give the character handlers the responsibility of deciding that. But asking her to say hello to her or sprinkle some pixie dust for a video might work

That's what I was worried about...Maybe I can get her to hold a blank piece of paper and photoshop it in? LOL! ;)

I saw people holding signs and also making videos with characters at the Halloween party 2 weeks ago. I am sure it is at the character/team's discretion, though.

HI I would bring the sign, explain to the handler and see what they say.. If you have the sign all printed out and ask Tink to sign it for (name) and then ask her to hold it when they take your picture they just might allow it.. It never hurts to ask the worst they will say no and the best outcome is a yes.. Let us know what happens, good luck Michelle

I think I'd let the handlers see the sign before you present it to Tink, for sure.

Thanks for the suggestions, I definitely dont want to be IN the pic (haha) but will if need be. I'll bring it and ask the handler before, and hope for the best :)

A friend of mine tried to get a character to hold a "get well soon" sign and it wasn't allowed as they don't want the person's memory of their "interaction" tarnished with a bad memory (because who wants to remember being sick or injured in the long run?). But they were able to get the characters to say Hello on video. If you asked Tink something along the lines of "Hey Tinker Bell, so and so isn't feeling well recently and I was hoping you could film a video saying hi? Maybe telling her you're sending a special something her way?"

I've never tried to have a character hold a sign, but I did ask Mulan and Elsa to record short video messages for someone on our past trip and both did so with no hesitation.

You can definitely record the character giving a special shout out message!
My friends done it with Anna and Elsa both separately but they both said hello the girls name and a cute message
Just talk to the character and ask if you can get a video for her!

I would go the video message route, with cell phones that is SO EASY these days. I would let the character handler know beforehand, just because in my experience they can help things go very smoothly.

I would suggest the Video message, especially with Tink! She was so darn awesome with my two little Princesses and their Tink obsessed nana! I bet the shout out will be way more fun than the sign, too because Tink talks!!! She talks FAAAASSSSSSSTTTTT! But she talks!

I am loving the idea of a video message telling her to get better and that a special surprise is on the way - will definitely keep my eyes peeled for a special tinkerbell souvenir to send her, one that tink can sign.

thanks everyone for the input!

If you go into the shop before you meet Tink there are quite a few "treasures" in there. I think maybe a Tink Tee or hoodie would be nice, or perhaps a hat, and if you bring a permanent marker it will last. Years ago my DGD was wearing a Goofy hat and Goofy took it off of her head and signed the visor. She has it still! But she never wore it again once we got home, it is hanging on her wall in her room at my house,

My girlfriend had each character say a message to her daughter for her birthday while she recorded it on her phone (via video)

We had a trip planned for late February 2013. When we found out that I was pregnant in December 2012, I knew that I wanted to do something Disney related to announce it. My plan was to hold a sign while taking a family picture in front of the castle - I had no idea that guests are not allowed to bring signs in, silly me! I almost didn't get through bag check with it. The bag check guy said no and when I pleaded my case, he called a lady over for her opinion. After a quick thought she said it was fine, that if I was just going to take a picture with it and then throw it away, that it would be okay. So thats what we did. :) It worked out perfectly and it's a great memory.

We had Mickey hold up a sign for my nephews saying their names and "You're going to Disney World!". They just have their handler check it out first to insure it is proper. It was a surprise trip and their mother used the photo to tell them on the morning they were leaving for Disney.
