Will 12/5-12th 2009 be blocked from discounts?

Looking at the post about a 40% off postcard currently arriving in some lucky people's mailboxes it looks like 12/5 - 12/12 isn't available in the discount. I also saw on another thread about possible dates in Dec that this same week didn't offer discounts in 2008 & lots of the resorts were booked up (by Pop Warner & their families, maybe?) We were hoping to head down 12/3 - 12/13, but may need to look at different dates if these dates won't offer any discounts whatsoever. Does anyone know if this was the case in 2008? No public discount or AP discount? TIA!

You probably won't know until later in the year, closer to the end of August and the early part of Sept. We prefer the week prior to Christmas so as to miss the Pop Warner groups and have experienced lower crowds, since the first 2 weeks are becoming more popular.

We were just down 2 weeks ago Dec 13-21 and the worst day was of course, Dec 20 as the crowds were coming in for Christmas. The rest of the week was really nice and we walked on the rides that we did and my cousin and her children rode many things several times each day with little to no wait. The only thing I remember her complaining about was the Playhouse Disney show. One night there was a relly long line for Test Track at Epcot, but that was because it was right after Illuminations and it was evening EMH and everyone headed in that direction all at the same time.

Thanks Suzanne We are leaning towards bumping it out to the week before Christmas, just wasn't sure how crowded it gets at the end of the week since I know Christmas is insanely crowded! LOL We were down in Dec '02 & loved the low, low crowds, but I don't think it's quite so quiet in Dec anymore...

Like I said, it didn't get bad until Saturday and it was much worse this year than last, but that was the only day/night. We went with the rest of the family and my cousin kept saing it sure is crowded, but she has never been before and it definitely wasn't crowded. We didn't even have the large crowds for MVMCP that I had heard about earlier in the month. We managed to do everything and still left early. There is just someting about that Saturday night and being willing to deal with the crowd, I wouldn't with small children, although I did with a 10 year old (never again). We just have to finish our trip at MK with Spectro, especially since this year was a tribute to my mom who passed away in Aug (she loved WDW at Christmas).

I am getting ready to choose my dates for Dec 2009, very soon.

I've been watching these dates too. Since it was blocked this year and availability was low, I will be booking my DVC room at the 11 month window. We are hopefully doing the cruise, so need a place to stay when we get back on 12/10.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. What a great tribute though! I think Saturdays are always crazy, crazy at MK with Spectro & everything - we always try to avoid MK on Sat nights, but we also like to end/begin our trips at MK, so I can understand that, too! Thanks again for the great info!

I actually got the 40% code for that week this year (2008) back in January '08. A lot of people did, maybe that is why the resorts were packed that week. Parks weren't too bad though.

I was able to book that week for 2008 using AAA, when I booked in Feb 2008. It ended up being the only discount I was able to get, so I'd use whatever you have if that has to be your week and get something, the rooms filled up fairly early last year and even trying to make a change got difficult....

We were at WDW 12/7-12/12 using a 20% off pin code that I also got back in Feb '08. The crowds weren't as light as I had hoped they would be, but they were very manageable. When I first called to book, the only DVC I could get was OKW, I later changed to SSR. All other DVC resorts were full (we travelled as an extended family and the 2BR was cheaper than 3 deluxe or mod. rooms).
