This is our first time visiting disneyworld. There will be only two of us and we are visiting all the disney parks plus seaworld and islands. We are just wondering if $1000 will be enough for food for the week. I am not sure of the prices of food in the parks but I've heard it could be expensive. We are only planning on 2 or 3 specialty restaurants, teppan edo and 50's prime time for sure we have reservations for. For the rest of the trip we will probably just be eating the counter service or somthing quick. Thanks so much for any help.

that will def be enough if the majority of your meals will be counter service. we usually figure $200 a day for the two of us but on a weeklong trip we prob have 5 signature restaurants in there and two regular sit down dinners.

Check out allears.net.......they have menu listings and prices for all disney parks and resorts as well as DTD.

Hope this helps!!

It should be unless you eat at very expensive (signature) restaurants.

For me, $500 would be plenty. But I don't drink alcohol and am not a big eater. So I think it really depends on your dining habits.

Allears has menu prices, so you can go see what you think you might order and get a ballpark cost from that. Do you need to include breakfast? How often are you likely to want a snack? Do you want something other than water to drink?

Since you're planning on mostly quick-service meals, you should come back with money to spare.

Depends. My DH and myself like to eat at the more expensive restaurant sans children and enjoy wine as well. Don't forget those tips either. At Cali Grill, I think it was $200 just for the two of us. As a PP mentioned, check out the menus on allears.net to give you a better idea. The entrees at Teppan Edo probably average $25 with non alcoholic beverages at $3. So, dinner and tip for the one meal would be approx. $68. If you like to drink around the "world" that will add a significant amount to your total. If you are just going to eat primarily at coutner service places you should be fine as an "average" meal is probably in the neighborhood of $12. BTW, a bottle of water runs $3.

Have fun!

That should be plenty! dbf and i are taking about £2000 for 2 weeks and i think we took a similar amount last time and we still had money left over

I asked DH, he does the math in our house. He estimates that 3 meals a day (including a CS breakfast and lunch and 1 TS dinner) would run about $840. If you added adult beverages for a week, he estimates about another $300.
If you had more than 1 TS meal a day it would be more.

I really think you should be ok if the only TS restaurants you are choosing are teppan edo and 50s prime time. Truly, if you ate at a TS restaurant every night, $1000 would probably be enough. Just remember to take enough money with you into the parks for snacks, because your sure to want a Dole Whip, Mickey Bar, or some yummy treat. :mickeybar I usually budget $6-$10pp a day for snacks (that's generous for us - we're not big snackers.) And, then, I give myself a water budget. If you're going in the summer, you need to stay hydrated, so figure some in for water unless you're taking some into the park with you. Overall, I think you'll have plenty with $1000. Have fun!! :goodvibes

I think that should be fine. One of our last trips we were there for five nights and six days (so one less than you'll be there) .. but we ate and drank ourselves silly. We usually had TS breakfast and TS dinner. We had CS lunch and snacks. We would get about 4-5 bottles of water a day between the 2 of us. We spent about 850.

Thanks everyone so much this really helps alot. We are actually leaving in 1 week and very excited. We don't eat breakfast hardly ever but do like to snack. You guys put my worries away. Thanks so much!

Should be fine. We spent about $1100-$1200 last trip for three of us, out-of-pocket (2 adults and a child) eating mostly at table service (almost exclusively) with the adults usually getting one cocktail with dinner each day. This was a 7-day trip.

My goodness - you will have more than enough!!! I was budgeting out $1000 for our family of 5 to eat OOP for our next trip.

Even as adults you won't be eating more than 2 TS a day. And unless you are eating Signature every night w/ alcoholic drinks than you should be fine.

We usually spend about $800-$900 for the two of us for a week at WDW. We generally do two TS meals a day, but we don't drink alcoholic drinks and the meals are so big we usually forgo appetizers or desserts. Sometimes we split a CS breakfast or get a couple of pastries. This also includes budgeting for one snack for each of us every day.

Sounds like that should be plenty since you are only planing on eating at a few TS locations. I would recommend checking out the menus on allears to get a better idea of pricing.

On our honeymoon last year, we had 2 adults (obviously) for one week - same as you. We had one TS and one CS meal per day, plus snacking here and there. We ate at a few of the expensive/signature restaurants, I think 2 or 3. We spend just about $1000 on food, maybe a little bit less. I think it's probably a reasonable budget for what you can expect to spend.

For what its worth DxDP is ~$1100 for 7 days for 2 adults so that should give you some idea. That DxDP for us is going to result in 5 days of Signature dining so yeah...

I notice no one has mentioned the dining plan... if this is your first visit to WDW you should really stay on property... then you can get the dining plan included and save a ton of money... without having to worry about a food budget... If you plan to visit Universal or Sea World just use a rental car to get there...
