Will 1 BR's ever have enough bedding to sleep 4 comfortably?

Think about it --- most DVC 1 BR resorts do not have enough bedding to sleep 4 comfortably. This should be a suggestion for improvement. The 1 BR's should have 2 Queen beds which would be enough for 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 large children. The very least that DVC could do is to put 2 Queen's in each bedroom. This way, 2 large children and 2 adults can share the bedroom. Do I have any supporters for this suggestion?

You'll have some, but not many. We happen to like our king bed and full pullout sleeper sofa and find it sleeps four just fine. The reason we book a DVC one bedroom is to not sleep in the same room with our children. Two queens isn't my idea of a "master bedroom." This is what we bought, we are happy with it, and you can't get it changed, its part of the legal configuation of what they sold you.

When our kids get a little older, we will book two bedrooms so they have their own beds.

Sorry, Martinvols, but I'll have to agree with crisi - I like the king bed, even if I am in it all by myself!!!! A 2BR works best for our family, because my daughters each like their own bed in the separate bedroom. Of course, we occasionally don't have enough points to use DVC as we would like, but we'd be more likely to just book a standard hotel room at AKL or some other resort we don't usually visit until we had the points to get the DVC unit we wanted.

We also like the set-up with a King in the bedroom. To us that is what makes it feel like a "home" as opposed to a hotel room set-up with two queens. On our past trip my then 4yo DD slept with my sister on the sofa bed while our then 5 month old son slept with us in the King. Everybody was comfortable. We are planning on the same arrangement for this Jan.

For us DVC is our home away from home. We have one bed in our master bedroom at our house so one bed in the master bedroom at the DVC resorts suits us just fine. Anything else wouldn't meet our needs or desires.

I think the 1BR configuration as I experienced it at SSR in January would work just fine for 4 adults. There was ample bedding for the sleeper sofa and the sleeper sofa was rather comfortable - I fell asleep there a couple of times while putting DD5 to bed and thought there would be plenty of room for 2 adults in that bed.

Along with everyone else who has responded -- I love the king size bed in the Master Bedroom. It's one of the reasons DVC works for us.

If the master bedroom had two queens instead of a king, I would never have purchased in the first place. It's as simple as that.

BTW, I'd be interested if you can find any other timeshare that has 2 queen beds in a master bedroom.

I can tell you that Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt all have a single bed in the master bedroom (I think they're all kings, too).

All these condos have 2-bedrooms sized units, including DVC. That's what a 2-B/R unit is for.

Sorry, no support here for your suggestion.

I'm also in the "it's what we bought" crowd.

There are times I'd like to see a little more variety (a studio with one queen and bunk beds might be tolerable for a quick getaway), but it isn't going to happen. I don't see the room amenities experiencing any material changes from those listed in the POS.

We have a king-sized bed at home so when we were first considering DVC, we wondered how we would cope with downsizing to a queen sized bed when we stay in a studio. We're willing to do it in exchange for saving points and being able to go to WDW more often. Also, we figured that every few trips, we would splurge and stay in a 1 BR so we could have a king bed instead. So I wouldn't want to see the 1 BRs switched from a king to 2 queens. In addition to giving up the comfort of a king-sized bed, the master BR would seem too much like a hotel room rather than a luxurious master BR.

How about a queen sleeper sofa in the studio instead of the full? They have a queen sleeper sofa in the one bedroom. :confused3

I would be fine with a different bed configuration in one bedroom...because it now only has a king and a sleeper, I have never even booked a one bedroom! For me, booking either two studios (when I don't want to use lots of points) or booking a two bedroom makes the most sense for a bigger group. Even tho I know the 1 bedroom offers a kitchen and living area, that is just not a significant benefit to me because i go for short stays. We are OKW members so booking two studios is about the same number of points as booking a one bedroom, and we get a sleeping capacity of 8 rather than 4! We are happier with having a little more privacy and an extra bathroom by booking two studios! The good thing about DVC is that we as members DO have such options...so to each his/her own!

Ditto!

Best wishes -

Love the king! ( and the privacy of the master br ) So I guess I'm with the majority on this one.

We get a 1BR as a couple travelling because we like the extra space, we like the king size bed (we are "Pooh-sized" people ;) ), we like the bedroom being separate from the living/dining space.

I like the 1BR configuration as is, I do believe.

Well, you may have support but I doubt it will get far. The sleeping arrangements were set when we bought it's not like they changed them.

I like the king in the master as well. I just wish all the 2 bedrooms had 2 queens beds in the 2nd bedroom. Of course that is before I actually use the sleeper sofas...if they are easy and comfortable it probably won't be too bad!

Count us in as requiring that king size bed also. It wouldn't be a master bedroom if it had two beds in it (IMHO). The new pullout sofas are very comfortable. We had no complaints from our last guests who had to use one for a couple of nights. The 1 bedroom units are designed for couples or families with children who can sleep on the pull out and save points. If you need more than one bed, you need a 2 bedroom. In the case of OKW, that means you get two queen sized beds, and I think THAT is a big plus too. Whomever decided the second bedroom should have one bed and one pull out wasn't thinking clearly.

A one bedroom is for 2 people not 4 to use. It is designed for 2 people. The two bedroom is great for 4 people to use, rent that for 4.

I don't want two queens - I want one king.

and if you check into other timeshares - you will see that the Master Bedroom usually has 1 king.
