I took a Mexican Riviera cruise in March and saw lots of whales and dolphins from the ship. In fact, the night of my birthday, at sunset, I estimated that we saw about 1000 dolphins heading to the ship to ride the bow.

I was just wondering what everyone's experience has been with wildlife seen from the ship. I was joking with my mom the first time I watched my DCL DVD that I wanted to take the Disney cruise because the animated dolphins follow the ship!!

We have seen dolphins in Port Canaveral around the ship and at sea. some have even reported seeing whales at sea. I have also seen many flying fish in the water along the side of the ship.

Agreed a lot of flying fish! On Monday after Key West we saw a small pod of dolphins frolicking alongside the ship.

we saw gian stingray (i swear they we were over 6 feet) out the window in front of the computer station

There were manatees playing in the water beside the ship while we were in port canaveral.

Dolphins dancing along side the ship, sea turtles, flying fish other things we didn't recognize.

Do teenagers roaming the ship late at night count?

During the Wonder's muster drill on April 18, 2004, we saw a pod of dolphins swimming around the side of the ship for quite a long time.

Tara,
Let's grab our umbrella drinks du jour for some whale-watching on the secret Deck 7 aft! (assuming you're "legal"; otherwise, a Diet Coke will do too!)

Yup, I'm legal. Learned how to do Tequila shots "the Mexican way" after whale watching in Puerto Vallarta. Funnily enough, I don't remember how to do it anymore!! I stopped drinking before forgetting the whales though!!

We are probably heading over to Crystal River after the cruise (we fly out Sunday) so I can go snorkelling with manatees.

The good thing is that I'll be just as happy seeing wildlife on board...you know, mice, dogs, dog-like aliens and the like!
