It is 2 adults and a 2 year old.

We are booked for POFQ.

We are considering Wilderness Lodge- $500 more and Contemporary is $600 more.

Is the monorail really worth it???

How long does the boat ride take? How often do boats run?

How many min. are you from MK or Epcot when you stay at contemporary?

We are getting the meal plan, and we were considering eating at California Grill, Concourse Steak House, and Chef Mickeys. The steak house at epcot looked appealing (we are from midwest- so i'd def. say we are meat and potato kind of people).

THANKS!

Bridget

Welcome to the DIS.
When are you going?
With a 2 year old, and for only $100 more, yes, the monorail is worth it. You sometimes have to fold your stroller to board the boats. Also, the CR rooms are larger, and you can walk to MK from there. Saves lots of time. :hourglass

we are going sept. 29-oct. 4th.

I guess I"m wondering if it is worth the jump up. We are paying $1200 now and it will jump to $1700 or $1800.

I can't speak to having kids and which is better (we have none), but we love the Wilderness Lodge! WL is our favorite resort bar none! It does take a little longer to catch the bus from there, but the setting is worth the wait. The kingdom boat usually takes 15-20 minutes becuase it stops at the Contemporary first. If you do pick the Lodge, make sure you eat at the main restaurant for breakfast, we always make a special trip there no matter where we stay.

Enjoy!

We love the WL! If you can swing it I would definately stay there. If money is no object, I would stay at the CR. The close proximity is awsome. Being able to hop on the monorail after a hard day at the park is great (the CR is the first stop leaving the park). Being able to walk to the MK in the morning is nice, too.

Both are great resorts. The theming at WL is awesome but I happen to be very fond of the CR too. CR does have the monorail and larger rooms, WL has the boatride to MK which is very relaxing and not very long at all. But, seeing the age of your child I'd probably lean a little towards CR for the monorail. The theming of the WL may be something that you might wish to save for a trip once the child is older. BTW, if you go with the CR, the first floor rooms have a pario that opens intothe courtyard. We were lucky and had a room there once that was within walking distance of the playground, which is fun for the little ones. There is a part with the padded floor and a sand are for them to dig in. The only drawback is that it is directly in the sun.

I think your question is more or less is it worth it bumping up from a Mod ($1200) to a Deluxe ($1700-$1800), right? That I think has to be determined by each person/family. The second part of your question is about the extra $100 between the WL and CR. If you choice to go deluxe then I would pay the extra $100 for convenience and stay at the CR. I've stayed at the CR with a 3yo, 4yo, and a 5yo + 6mo and it was worth the extra $$$ each time in my opinion.

We stayed at CR in March (with kids) and at WL last April (also with kids). Both, IMHO, are well worth the $$$$ with a 2yr old because of the overall proximity to MK and I do think CR is worth more $ for the convenience of the monorail (after a hot day at the park with a tired toddler you'll be SOOO happy to just jump on that monorail).

And on comment about the pools/beach...CR has a fun fountain area - great for younger kids and the beach is right there.

But either way, honestly, with CR or WL you just can't go wrong!

We just came home from fort wilderness-(Cabins) I miss it so much!
We went with 2 children and found it to be fantastic! The boat ride is so much fun-they played disney tunes in the afternoon and it only took maybe 10 minutes-we had rented a car and all the parks were pretty close- well, would of been if hubby did not get lost :rotfl2: - but once we got the hang of it we had fun driving around. The people are all so NICE. Even the bus driver who saw my DH trying to make sence of the map at a light and gave us directions( after laughing at him) :rotfl:
It was great to be able to make breakfast in the mornings before we set out-(saved time and money) we wished we were staying longer so we could of made use of the grill.Oh and the towels made into animals and cupcakes by the housekeepers were GREAT (I did not know they would do that there)
One more good point, after being in the busy parks all morning, it was so nice to go back to our cabin and relax (it was so quiet) or take a dip in the pool, sit on the deck let the kids nap without being stuck in the same room.
We are planning to go back!
