Wilderness sold out for first week in dec. studio

Does this sound right. I called to day at my 7 month window for a trip home again dec 4-12.. They told me they are sold out for wilderness lodge. So I put my name on the waiting list and asked her what other ones are open besides saratoga which I already have locked in. She told me they are sold out for every resort for studios.. Does this sound right?

It does sound right for the season - Christmas decorations, low points, etc. Hopefully, your waitlist will come through.

Sounds right. We had a Studio at BWV booked for 11/26-12/1 at our 11-mo. window, and tried to switch right at the 7-mo. window to a Studio at VWL. That morning at 9:00 a.m., they only had 4 of the 6 nights available, so I went on the waitlist for the entire 6 nights. Just a few hours later I called back because I'd changed my mind -- I wanted to book the available nights at VWL and go on the waitlist for just the 2 outstanding, which I thought would increase my chances. Well, at that point, NONE of the nights was available! So, I stayed on the waitlist for all 5 nights and, lo and behold, it's already come through--in less than a week-and-a-half! So, I know the waitlist works, and as we all try to switch around right at the window, it's bound to be that while I want to release BWV in favor of VWL, someone else is trying to do just the opposite!

We've gone the first or second week of December the past 5 years at BWV (my home resort, book right at 11 months). It's a very popular time among members. All the Christmas shows & decorations are up and it's the lowest point season.

When I booked for Nov 30-Dec 4 about 10 days ago, MS told me there wasn't much open as far as studios go. But I lucked out and got one at BCV. BWV were completely gone at that point. Between the low points, the holiday decorations are up and the terrific shows, the low crowds the week after Thanksgiving and I think that MouseFest may be that week-end also. Maybe the 3rd?? If that's the case, that will draw a lot of people also.

We have one of those VWL Studios the first week in December (Gotta love that 11 month window). Two years ago I called at 8 months to add on a Friday night to our studio reservation at VWL in early December. Had to waitlist and it took 4 months for that night to come in! I was really surprised! Guess you just never know.

And yes, MouseFest is that first week in December this year too. I know a lot of people going specifically for that.

Yes, that sounds right. Even last week there were dates over the Thanksgiving weekend that were booked at VWL and BWV, and that was before the 7 month window hit. I made sure to grab our VWL dates for the following week while I still had the home resort advantage. I was successful in booking the BCV at the 7 month windows for Nov 25 - Nov 29, but I called day by day.

For the future that is what I'd suggest. It looks like you waited until today to book the entire time (4th - 12th). You might have had more luck if you started calling each day starting on May 5th.

The first week of December is extremely popular with DVC members. The weather is good, the points are low, and all the holiday festivities are in full swing.

Just got off the phone with DVC reservations. My waitlist for Dec 6 - 14 just came through and that's our home resort! Tried to book all 8 nights in a studio back in January and could only get 6 - 9. Waitlist just came through today for the rest of the nights. Probably someone changed resorts at 7-month window. Very excited!! Love VWL!!

I'll ditto what everyone else said - that sounds right. We were at VWL first week of December last year in a 1 bedroom. The CM as the front desk told us they were at full occupancy - and it was the only time we've ever stood in a LONGGGGGG line to check in!

I just finished booking a BCV studio for the nights of 12/10-12/12. I called day-by-day the past 3 mornings at 9am and had no problems with my ressie. It sounds like you tried to book all the nights at once

Well I just cancelled a studio for Dec 5-11 at VWL, so hopefully one of you gets it. That darn work just gets in the way of vacations.

I used the points to book a studio in March (already had the 2 bedroom) for my extended family. While I'm booked at VWL so that we have rooms, I'm really hoping I can get a Grand Villa at OKW at the 7 month mark.

And hopefully I'll get to do my early December vacation with my husband next year.

Yes, that is correct.
I called Thursday at the 7 month window to see if my SSR studio reesie (December 7-12) could be changed to VWL (did not think of calling day by day - I have a job, too ). I had to do the following:

7th - VWL
8th - SSR, waitlist at VWL
9th-10 - VWL
11th - SSR, waitlist at VWL

On Thursday I was 1st on the waitlist for the 11th - that was taken while I was on the phone with MS. Due to the timing of re-booking right at the 7 month window and the fact that a number of people do switch at that time, it should work out ok.

BCV and BWV were sold out.

Unfortunately, we can't rely on a waitlist - need to book voucher'd air soon.

We got a 1 bedroom at OKW for Dec. 4-8, and from the sounds of it, there were more available. MS also suggested SSR was available.

I don't know about 1 bedrooms but so far I've been able to book/change the first 2 nights in a 2 bedroom of our trip to VWL from SSR. (and they say the rest of the week looks good so far.)

I can hear my "persuasive argument" to my DH now: "...we need to add on right away, the only rooms left are 2 BR's"LOL

I think the 3 of us would get lost in a 2 BR (almost 1,100 square feet - think my 1st house was smaller); certainly would get spoiled for future trips.
